Is ARTPOP most aggressive piece Gaga did so far?

like when she is using her voice to overshadow the vulnerability that was sprouting inside her. It's in Aura, in G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE, Do What U Want, Swine, Dope, it's like when you press your fingers into the wound that has not healed yet and you get an electrified scream of pain in return.

This is hands down the greatest statement in any analysis/ review I've ever seen of ARTPOP

I think during the creation of ARTPOP she was becoming angry obviously with how things were becoming and she had seen all the dark sides of fame: the struggle to have a personal life, media scrutiny, critical and commercial failures, and obviously her struggles with fame, and her relationship with her management was crumbling. She let her anger translate in the music, which we know is true. ARTPOP was about letting out her built up anger in ragey, electronic music, the easiest genre to do so in. Joanne was about loving herself after what she had become to many, Gaga, the pop star, not Stefani, the person

ARTPOP was her coming to terms with and accepting the past, Joanne is coming to terms with who she is today and looking to the future as a more mature woman

well taking tips on maturity from the peterpan generation is misguided I'd say. ARTPOP is about wider issues than 'gagas' career it is not anger it is love. it is controversial for some but that says more about them than it does about ARTPOP. I think it is fairly mature as far as such a notion exists in this day and age.

I think that the main thing was the strugle with a personal life. Gaga had been on tour for four years when the hip injury happened. She played:

106 concerts in 2009,

136 concerts in 2010,

41 concerts in 2011,

80 concerts in 2012.

Roughly speaking, that's 1 concert every 4 days. Not to mention that traveling between the concerts also takes a good amount of time,  and all the promotional tours she went on, like to Asia and Australia in 2011, or to Europe, also took much time. This is a schedule that can't possibly allow you to have any stable social contacts because you change your city every four days. You can only be surrounded by people whose jop depends on you.

This puts you into a very special mental state when, on the one hand, you enjoy the finer things like expensive hotels, private jets and stuff, but, on the other hand, you're excluded out of planning your social life because it is pretty much planned according to your working schedule. Obviuously she was the one to make a choice in the first place, but I think she bit more than she could swallow and put herself into a very isolated position.

When the hip injury happened, I bet it was like she finally slowed down a bit and looked around her and maybe thought that she was not fit enough for such an exhausting touring schedule. I know many people here don't like Madonna, but because Gaga herself admires her as a performer, I just wanted to give some info about Madonna first tours:

1985 - 40 concerts,

1987 - 38 concerts,

1990 - 57 concerts,

1993 - 39 concerts.

Madonna always had and still has at least one year break between her tours, and when you see at the number of shows Madonna used to play with her first four debut tours, you get the idea about how overloaded Gaga's concert schedule was.

So I take 2013 in Gaga's history as this moment when her hip injury was like an expected response from her body being overworked from 380 concerts she had played all in HIGH HEELS. And it probably made her rethink her touring approach and probably many people from her team were not happy with it, because less shows meant less income and the debates began, and all the fury and rage and anger and frustration met the dance beats and thus ARTPOP was born. The meaning of Applause when you take her touring schedule into consideration also changes and can be seen from a different view.
