Born To Slay

If the song was debuted at the VMAs, the m/v released the next day on GMA and the song had a big radio deal?

Applause would've debuted at number one on both the digital and streaming charts. I think it would've been enough to go number one on the hot 100.

She did the best she could, the issue was the other 3 songs on the top 5 , they were bigger and viral.

I read something somewhere about Applause's debut. Like the pre-orders of the song didn't count as sales or something and otherwise would have peaked higher or something. :selena:

I actually don't think this is the most pointless question ever because everyone was shocked Gaga didn't debut at number one and it was how the whole Gaga is officially a flop trend started. her only truly impactful chart position imo

It would have probably gone #1 if it hadn't leaked and they forced the early release of it. That's really what put the nail in its #1 chances

Blurred Lines, Royals, and Roar were massive. Maybe she could have been #1 for one week; however, if she pushed all that promo during the first week, her second week would be a massive drop, most likely pushing her out of the top 10.

Applause was top 10 for a long time, it wouldn't have fallen out

I was actually kinda thinking that because then instead of headlines saying Gaga was beat out by Katy, the headlines would say Gaga debuted at number one with a VMA performance.

Because the release was week 1

Music video week 2

VMA's week 3

After that, it settled. However, if you put all three of those within the same week, the song wouldn't have had longevity.

Yes. But it could have also had dropped way earlier, and instead we got a longetivity hit, we will never know now :gaycat:
