GAGA: Five Foot Two: Review, thoughts, and the future. (Contains spoilers)

So I was able to see the film early, with access to media credentials () and thought I'd share some thoughts. MAJOR SOPILERS below so do not read if you want to be surprised.

My initial take away was that I haven't felt this close to Gaga since 2011-2014. She really lets you into her (very) personal life. You see her immediately discussing Taylor, her pain, her current mind set as she enters her 30's. She looks, feels, and acts the way that I remember her, unlike the more guarded persona of Joanne. So that is very refreshing. There's a scene where she plays the title track for her grandma and it was so emotional, raw and heart-felt. Reminiscent of when her Grandpa passed and she would tell stories and dedicate performances to him. 

Secondly, the btich is a workaholic, and the intense preparation that goes into everything she does is mind-blowing. You see her cry, yell, and freak out over preparation for the album and the Super Bowl, and it reminded me of how much she does. When we don't agree with a choice, a costume or a song, we sometimes forget the work that was put into it. 

My final take-away, and what prompted me to write this, is that her health is truly concerning. During the PI shoot, the Super Bowl rehearsal, and before Tony's birthday, her body was sent into spasms that literally crippled her. She explains to her doctor that the pure adrenaline she receives from the fans and performing live allows her to push through, even if she's in debilitating pain. 

With the announcement of the Rock in Rio cancellation, I can't help but feel that the rest of the tour, and a large part of her career is in jeopardy. The constant dancing puts her in such crippling and agonizing pain, and there's not real cure for it. I could easily see her becoming less of a physical performer, and more of a vocalist for this reason. 

 

The film is fantastic, and really raw and emotional. You will all love it, but go into it with an open-mind and zero expectations.

It's not glamorous at all. It's VERY raw. 

And unlike TMB special, there's no point she's trying to sell. It's literally a look into her day-to-day as she's working on the new album, shifting her image, focusing on her personal life and family, and figuring out who she is.

you can't have fibromyalgia from dancing hard. In fact, you are at risk of fibromyalgia if you do not move much, + she did not feel her hip pain because of her fibromyalgia.

it's her PTSD.
