The article didn't mean that 5F2 is an Oscar-contender. It just said that it was not-to-miss. Films like Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, The Shape Of Water, Molly's Game, etc. are the Oscar contenders and they are not even mentioned in the article.

I don't think her team/director are looking for an Oscar, anyways. This documentary doesn't look like that kind of project, IMO. This is something more... natural.

All Netflix's films that have been nominated had theater/festival runs which made them eligible.

The only films that can be nominated solely from streaming are foreign films.
