well when there was the beginning of the gas shortage here in TX people were fighting each other at pumps to get gas.  People go mad crazy pretty easy

The last day of "calm"

If I understand correctly, my area will begin to get outer bands around 8PM then it'll get progressively worse until tomorrow night. By Monday morning we should be in the clear. Thanks to this newest shift, we're expecting a lot more rain than before which makes flooding a real concern. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not but my part of town was built so that water drains from neighborhoods to main streets and then off into the nearby river, lake, and drainage ditches. Though that saving grace will only help if we don't get a thousand feet of water or something

Anyone know if they've rescinded the idea that Jose won't make landfall in the U.S.?

I was watching a youtube video about the storm and the people in the comments are saying that the hurricane "Is a liberal geo-engineered storm to push the global warming agenda" 

There is this thing called HAARP that was a research program set up by the US government in the 90's and they claim that it has been used to weaponize weather...

Irma is category 4 again, but it is expected to strengthen again.

José looks like it is going for Carribean too and no further path has been defined

Katia at the Gulf of Mexico going for east Mexico

Lee is forming west of Africa, 5th storm in the Atlantic

Hurricane IRMA 09/09/17 Update 

Impacts

The storm is currently battering the northern coast of Cuba, thankfully the coast is not very populated but the population centers that are there are expected to receive catastrophic damage. 

The Turks and Caicos still have not restored communications so damage is difficult to asses but it is expected to be quite severe.

Thankfully the DR and Haiti were largely spared by the storm with no casualties reported but with still substantial damage on the coast. 

On the rest of the islands damage control is continuing, we should get more info as it comes in

The death toll unfortunately stands at 21 but is expected to rise. 

Forecast 

The storm made landfall in Cuba about 12 hours ago as a powerful cat 5 hurricane, it has now weakened to a cat 4 and sustained winds have decreased to 130 mph. The storm's weakening continues as it interacts with Cuba's mountainous terrain, however once the eye of the storm leaves the island the storm could go through explosive intensification over the warm waters of the Florida strait. The extent of that intensification is yet to be seen. 

Irma still has not begun its sharp north turn and the exact moment of that turn will determine the location of impact. 

The tracks consensus however has shifted and it now seems that the Miami area and the east coast of florida will be mostly spared of the most intense winds. The same cannot be said of the west coast. 

There is now about a 60% chance of a Florida landfall and if it happens it will most likely make a direct hit on Naples Florida. This will be catastrophic for the city which is even more lowlying than Miami. 

The cities that would be the most affected are: 

Naples

Fort Myers

Key West 

Tampa

Homestead

However, the track is still extremely volatile and can still change, I am still hoping that the storm will stay of land like Matthew did. 

Also if the storm makes landfall around the Naples area this does not mean that Miami and the west coast are out of the woodworks, due to the size of the storm the storm surge will still be significant in the area, also this is expected to be a quite large rain event for the west coast of florida.

Upto to 20 inches of rain can be expected in some areas of Miami Dade county. 

It is still to early to say what the impacts in Georgia/Alabama and the Carolinas will be but some impacts are to be expected, the strength of these impacts is yet to be seen. 

It is now too late to evacuate for most people in the keys and southern Florida, if you are still there, just huddle down and stay safe, don't put yourself at risk

My area is out of the cone. We're expecting only Category 1 strength winds. Thankfully we're avoiding the worst part of the storm, but we're still at risk for tornados. Praying for West Florida.
