Normally storms have a more linear track, like andrew or Katrina, these are easier to predict, This storm is different because it is non linear, the jet stream will cause it to make a sharp northwards turn, the problem is that the movements of the jet stream are quasi almost impossible to predict in advance. Rn all you can do is prepare for the worst but hope for the best. What I can tell you is that even the best case scenario will bring quite a lot of damage to the east coast of florida, but nothing compared to the catastrophic damage that could occur if it makes a direct hit on Miami or even worse if it goes right through the spine of Florida. We will most likely know how bad the storm will be for the east floridian coast sometime around tomorrow night. Whenever the NHC starts giving more definitive tracks I will update you guys ASAP. Regarding intensity, rn noaa is predicting it will be a cat 4 at landfall, however only yesterday night they predicted it was going to be a cat 3! These things change! The more time that passes the more we know! Which is why it's important to always stay up to date!!! Stay safe in any case!!! take care!! I feel so worried for you guys I just saw on my local news that Orlando is preparing for a direct hit and that the eye may travel over anywhere from Orlando to coastal cities aka what my city is Our luck Though there's a silver lining. By the time it reaches us up here, it'll be a cat 2/3 (most likely a 3) so that's less devastation in the long run, especially for our friends up North from us 25 minutes ago, Morphine Prince said: BREAKING: New major hurricane of the season That bitch better stay away Trump needs to build a wall on the Atlantic coast to keep out Jose... I can't The only vehicle we have is my grandma's car and I don't want to leave them stranded. They said they're staying put because "Matthew was supposed to be a disaster but we've had worse afternoon storms". I have a feeling a lot of people think this way now Besides, I'd rather be here helping to clean up and recover afterwards than stuck in some strange city for days or weeks due to damage blocking the way home We evacuated for Matthew and we were stuck in Lake City for days after the storm had passed. It was hell 'cause the motels, hotels, gas stations, even supermarkets were price gouging the f*ck out of people that were just trying to go home. Then the traffic, certain roads and highways being closed, it was all just terrible. Whimsical bitch

Unfortunately the chances of it not making landfall have become slimmer these last few days. A shame people think like this! Stay safe! Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Park your car there! If it misses your neighborhood or city, then you can go back without too much hassle.

I've tried convincing them but they aren't budging The closest "shelter" is the high school I went to. If worse comes to worse, we can be there in less than a minute...not sure how that'll work out with 100mph+ winds whipping around...but yeah There's not much they can offer us that we don't already have though. I keep our food and water stocked up for hurricanes so I don't have to be caught in the madness that's going on atm. We'll make it though. I've lived through dozens of hurricanes, a few of which were major direct hits. It's nothing new Honestly, one of my main concerns is that Irma and Jose show a trend. I don't want 2004 2.0 where we were hit with one huge storm after another 5 minutes ago, Morphine Prince said: Can you please check in here for as long as you have power? juju 18,907
so the eye of the storm is expected to pass directly over my hometown, and the mayor has issued a state of emergency and last I heard they're urging everyone to evacuate. W/o a license I'm kind of a sitting duck. I'm not really scared bc I'm a tough bitch, but I'm worried about everyone else here. Especially my family. It's expected to hit Monday, so y'all keep ju in ya prayers. ❤ x ❤
