Doot 2
They shouldn't have to "fall into favor". The media are the ones who influence the general public, not the other way around. Quit talking **** and no one falls out of favor.
TheRoof 21,600
look, i reed the comments before and the only think i'm gonna say is that she has done mistakes and very huge mistakes but so did Justin Bieber , so did Justin Timberlake but the last one wasn't critizised for what he did , in fact, they blamed the woman (Janet Jackson ) and that shows how retarded we are as a equality society. at the end it's true: what goes around comes around.mp3 for EVERYBODY but there are still double standars that make look womans as the problem almost all the time

aaronyoji 2,055
I'm sorry but taylor swift deserves every ounce of criticism she gets. she is not a victim of misogny, with exception to her sexual assault case. that is the only instance in which ill defend her, but even then she capitalizd on the momentum from that and released that awful song shortly after, thats not clever or feminist its just stupid. she reeks of privilege. sure, katy is cringey, and exploitative but honestly she can't help it, and ill honestly say she gets a little too much heat sometimes. taylor on the other hand.... Swift knows she can’t win, so she is content to play up to whatever role will bring her temporarily back into favour – “I’ll be the actress, starring in your bad dreams”. Swift knows her reputation is out of her own hands. Yes, Swift’s new single is a diss track, but she’s dissing us. And we probably deserve it." Earthling 3,692
Haha a guy in my university (Trinity College Dublin) wrote this article! I read it today when one of our mutuals shared it! He's a pretty good freelance writer!! I generally agree with the ideas presented in the article, I think Taylor has been subjected to misogynistic treatment by the media, that for the most part is unwarranted even if she may cash-in on the controversy from time to time *she switched baristas. ☕️

People dislike her bc she's done mean things... Get out of here with the patriarchy bullsh*t. It's phony articles like this that make it hard to call out actually misogyny, which there is plenty of. Thank you!!! Finally someone said it. You know, you can hate a woman withou her gender being the reason. Wish people would understand. But then again, it's 2017. Too many people here with moral superiority complex.
StrawberryBlond 14,900
I'd also like to add that Taylor got herself into all the controversy she's in now. If she hadn't made that Bad Blood song and video, she wouldn't have annoyed Katy and caused her to respond with a diss track. If she'd just approved the Kanye line and not gone against her word (about telling the press she was in on it) later on, Kim would never have to release that Snapchat as a rebuttal. If she'd also been honest about the full extent of how much she knew and didn't know, she could actually have had the public on her side, but no, she chose to pretend that he had never contacted her in the first place, that she knew nothing of the song until it came out. So, it's all her fault that she's now got both Kanye and Kim against her. And if she hadn't obviously told Calvin all about her plans to bring Katy down when they were together, he wouldn't have felt the need to make that tweet directed at her that said: "I know you're bored and looking for someone to bury (Katy)." That gave us a glimpse into the stuff he was probably exposed to when they dated and her conniving ways maybe put him off her. And now she's whining like the spoiled child she is because now everyone knows what she's really like behind the scenes and she can't handle the fact that the illusion 11 years in the making has been shattered. But bad people can only stay hidden for so long. She'd better watch how many more bridges she burns in the industry. It'll get to the point where no one will want to work with her or be friends with her for fear of her destroying them later. Walking on eggshells with someone who's all about divide and conquer is not a happy friendship. So, yeah, it's hard to feel sorry for her when she's brought it all completely on herself. But apparently, it's borderline blasphemous to bring this stuff up, you're not allowed to have an opposing view when it comes to Taylor because her fanbase are vicious, even when she's owning the fact that she's a snake right now and there's nothing left to defend. I'm really getting up close and personal with how poisonous her fans can be right now and it's not pretty. But then, what do you expect from a fanbase who's been supporting a perfect, pampered princess up until now?
Miel 15,009
I don't hate Taylor, but I'm getting more and more dubious about her "I'm against this narrative" shtick. I do believe that, before, she was unfairly criticized for being a young girl who wrote love songs about boys all the time. She was young, let her live, etc etc. But now? It's a much more different, nuanced case- she's a grown woman, and I feel like she could definitely be much more accountable and responsible for some of the narrative's history. Was she unfairly and badly treated before? Of course. But it honestly, honestly feels like she's continued to use the contrast of "America's Sweetheart" versus "I am a Bhad Bhitch now" to her advantage, in a way that's not necessarily powerful or empowering, and still retains the "good white girl" image. I don't know. Not that Katy, or Kanye, or Kim, or anybody else, is entirely in the clear. This whole situation is just messy, overall, and it's very peculiar that she constantly gets out on top, albeit more people being acutely aware of her actions now. Is it because she's genuinely in the right? I don't know, I really don't. - Aside from that, what happened with the sexual assault case? I hope she got justice from that- the host's actions are disgusting. 3 points in and ready for more

I've never seen any other artist base their entire career off such a thing. She's approaching 30, so taking every little stumbling block of life so personally isn't a good look. Doesn't she not realise that as the only female artist reacting in this way so overtly, she perhaps seems like she's a bit oversensitive? I'm also fascinated as to why she keeps coming out on top as well. I thought after annoying this many people, especially now more than ever, it would cause her to lose fans at a hell of a rate. I don't know how many times she can churn out the same song concepts and be exposed as a shady person before people start giving up on her. I mean, if the media and public are so sexist and insist on only having perfect women be successful, then why are some of the most problematic females doing the best? She won the case, but it was the guy who was suing her because he claims she was the one who resulted in him getting fired. The judge ruled in Taylor's favour but all she had to win was the $1 she was counter-suing for (you can see it in the bathtub in her new video among the diamonds as a piece of symbolism). She says she's going to make donations to sexual survivor charities and try to help other women in her situation get the money to take their cases to court. No matter what I think of her, it's admirable.

In my opinion, it's kind of a shame, because I feel like she's actually kind of talented, and can write a killer pop-country song. But in the end, it's kind of hard to support somebody who can act that kind of way. I don't know. 24 minutes ago, StrawberryBlond said: She won the case, but it was the guy who was suing her because he claims she was the one who resulted in him getting fired.
