My state has free community college along with Missouri, Rhode Island, Oregon. NY has free two AND four year programs. Arkansas, South Dakota and Minnesota makes tuition free for students studying in fields where there is a high demand for workers.

I think we will se more states offer free tuition for at least community college as time goes on.

I don't know for me this info is hard to accept. Both of my parents have working class jobs, my mom is a housekeeper and my dad is a landscaper, they own a house, two cars, pay bills, and they don't live paycheck to paycheck. They save more than $100 a month and are not in dept. Are Americans overspending? My parents don't have the best paying jobs out there but they are able to stay out of debt yet 71% of Americans are in debt.

It takes away from the need for a profit margin so you spend only what u need on it. 

 

US Media has a lot of innacurate propaganda. Everytime I hear Rightg-Wing politician in America talking about our healthcare for comparison its a bounch of lies i Cant  

 

MYTH #1: it does not have to skyrocket taxes if well managed. Most of Our taxes in the last decade have actually become lower than the US rates such as income taxes, investment taxes, small business taxes and Corporate Taxes (hence why Burger King moved headquarters here for example)

 

MYTH #2: people are not dying at hospitals waiting for treatment. Ive yet to meet someone personally that was urgently needing care and not getting it because of backlogs

 

While for small things at ER for example or certain specialists wait times may be a little longer, (I waited 3 hours when i badly sprained my ankle) anything serious and patients get put on priority and never have to wait much at all.

 

PS: Even if you can not organize it in a way that taxes dont go up a noticiable amount still, it takes away from insurance premiums and out of pocket expenses so at least it would even it out for everyone and keep costs consistant and predictable

 

Im not a lefty. I dont like Government thats too big. But Universal HealthCare is one thing i do believe in for too many reasons to quickly lost right now

I think Gooseys point is that many ppl are just bad and stupid with money. In this guys case he spent a years worth of income on a car. I make $50,000 a year and would never pay more than $25,000 for a car screw it. And if it has to be second hand with a year or two on it than so be it

It doesnt help that this generation and our parents generation is so bad at saying no to things they dont really need when they cant afford it

I see the same thing here in Canada. Most of my friends are always broke. Their parents have only a few thousand in bank account. Yet many of them have decent incomes

Yes you are right. Here is the US, a lot of people listen to the GOP and the right wing news and believe Single Payer will bankrupt us and lead to communism, waiting days in line for medicine, and extreme rationing. Thankfully people are waking up and the idea is slowly becoming more popular.

Canada has free tuition programs, single payer, yet in America these ideas are seen as far left and unrealistic!

Yes, I agree with that, a lot of people have no idea how to save, spend, and manage income. I think US public schools should have a mandatory money management, tax class that teaches kids how to save money, invest it, and how to do tax returns and how to know when it is the right time to start a family. I think it would really help citizens and educate kids on how to make the right decisions and mistakes people make.
