Thank you for the story.

That reminds me when guys saying, "it's not you, it's me" when they break up with somebody.

Yeap! We can´t like something because it´s Gaga´s stuff.

She can´t keep on writing albums just to please her fans, either.

Joanne is some kind of " a family affair " thing ,while ARTPOP is the album when Gaga decided to be herself ,and be more creative, out of the box.

I´m more attached to ARTPOP in a very personal way,but Joanne is her best album mostly because of its production and lyrical superiority.

Lady Gaga is trying to find her place in the Streaming Era,she knows that she can´t stay in a "Joanne" mode for too long.

She created a great JWT Show, she will release new stuff soon

And....We will dance again!

You reminded me of Prince when he directly shaded Gaga in an interview back in the day :selena:

I'm not shading her at all, honestly. This era just isn't my cup of tea. Maybe next era!

I agree with you, I don't particularly like Joanne but I'm still here as a fan of her other work & gaga as a person. However, I don't feel the need to dampen on others parade & post negative comments either. I've been a fan since '08

Gaga isn't as interesting as she once was but I think she just wants to focus on other things ( family, acting career, ect). I'm kind of happy about that though because following Gaga from 2011 to 2013 was such a time suck, since there was so much new material. Now I have more time to focus on my own life haha.

Tbh I agree with a lot of what you said. However, I think there's reasoning behind it. Her personal life has honestly been a mess since 2015, and we don't even know the half of it.

She withdrew, fled New York, and found safety and calm in Malibu. And I get that. She focused on other project and skills, and honed in on acting and her own well-being. Joanne for me was a necessary album for Gaga. One that reconnected her with her family, her roots, and her trauma, all while commenting on the state of the world. She was in a dark, emotional place and had to find the light in a very non-celebrity way (the horses, chickens, her family, cooking, gardening, etc.).

I think that with this tour, and reconnecting with her fans (for ****s sake she's FINALLY calling them Monsters again), she'll reconnect with her art as well. She's already wearing more outrageous costumes (Bloody Mary) and her energy has already changed from Joanne's release.

I'm anticipating big things from her with ASIB, and the release of new music down the road.

It is easier to understand the change in her if we realize she doesn't need to do all the things she dad prior to 2011 because she already got to the top and she can't go any higher than that. We are lucky she is even releasing music, I mean she surely doesn't need it and doesn't us because she already got almost everything she could get.

So yeah, I'm think after this tour we won't see her again for a looong time, maybe the ASIB stuff but other than that I don´t see much.

And I think the album is slightly pathetic since she never met her aunt. Soooo....

I'm Italian, just like Gaga. And we are very attached to the value of "family". I didn't get to know my grandfather but his death has left a huge scar in my family and we "honor" (idk the right term sorry) him everytime we talk about him. It's not pathetic, I think it's a cultural thing. Family is something sacred in Italian culture. More than in other cultures.

I'm sure she feels about her aunt the same way I feel about my grandfather.

I know how you feel. Honestly I do. I met Gaga during the artrave and paid to meet her but when I met her I didn't have that same love and that same feeling of "I'll never stop supporting you". It's sad that the feeling dies. I still try to support her now because I can empathise with her as a human being suffering with anxiety and wanting to be with her family more. But at the same time when Gaga was at her best, she wanted to put out videos that were a big worldwide event like Michael Jackson's thriller. She said that herself. She didn't care if she had more singles than she was supposed to or if she made more videos than was needed. (The Sara Cox interview comes to mind). It's like she's lost her enthusiasm. I blame the fame because it's changed her and made her go from super star to normal girl but on the other hand I love the fame and I love all the superficial superstar stuff. Forget about the music not the bling. I just want the old gaga back.

By the way your English isn't all that bad.

I understand ur comment, my mistake. But my mom is east indian and in an indian culture we're like VERY close (I mean we even are close with our third cousins and great aunts and stuff). So I do understand where u are coming from.

It's pretty obvious that it is about female masturbation  the tittle itself is a metaphor for female masturbation. And some verses are almost too clear:

- I lay around, touch myself to pass the time

- Up full night tryin' to rub the pain out

- Dancin' in circles, feels good to be lonely

Swirl around as if I'm someone else
Your hands are mine
I do a trick
Pretend that I am you until it clicks
I come alive

- All the things that are on my mind
Vanish as I touch myself

I don't know if you know that but she said she's Beck's fan
and she made this song with him, making a song about masturbation with your idol is something too iconic to not be doing:cryga:

Gaga:It’s a really fun dance song. It’s a great record. We started in Malibu. We were just hanging out for the afternoon and I asked [Beck] if he wanted to go into the live room, which is where all the instruments are for recording. And we just went in and I sat at the piano. I believe he was playing a Hummingbird guitar that Mark [Ronson] gave me, and we just sat down and started to jam and we wrote the song. It’s a killer, killer record.(interview from Yahoo Music)

and on the other side we all know that she made this song to please her TFM fans

Mark Ronson:“For Gaga, it was like meeting her idol, Beck is pretty much her favorite influential artist of the past 20 years. She was a fan girl at first.” The song morphed from an unplugged Beck song into what Ronson calls “classic Gaga, like ‘Alejandro’ and some of the stuff from Fame Monster.”(from Mark's Rolling Stone interview)

Hey everyone :hor:

So yesterday I came back to Gagadaily to check some news about the tour, and I found myself missing the forum and you guys. A few years have passed  I probably don't even recognize most of you. But anyway, hey cuties. So yes, I am just going to write a lot of stuff that has happened, because it kind of saddens me, but this is not coming from a place of hate, so don't come for me, I'm very neutral at this point, when it comes to Gaga. I truly hope you guys don't think like: "yeah another bashing thread, nobody cares, leave her alone", this is not that, I'm just sharing what I feel after not being in the fanbase for some time now. Sorry if I make mistakes. I'm Portuguese, I've moved to Sweden to work as a dentist, learned Swedish and I am currently studying Norwegian, so my English became way worse than it was.

I found myself in the middle of the forums thinking: wow, things have changed quite a lot since my times here. I had the feeling the fanbase was not even the same. So I wondered if what happened to me, happened to most of the people that were here from the beginning.

I was (?) a Gaga fan since 2009/2010. And what a time to be a Gaga fan, tbh. We had new photos and outfits every other day, new shows, new interviews, new photoshoots, unreleased material. Like it was truly amazing, there was stuff being released almost all the time. I remember very well the promotional campaign for Born This Way. The wait for the album, when it leaked 1 week before the release and still managed to sell 1.2 million copies, the iconic cover that everybody hates. It was so prolific. It was almost too much, but everyone loved it. Then came ARTPOP, a complete turn in terms of sound, but still Gaga. Visuals, outfits, probably the best tour of her life. Even though it had some bumps here and there, it was still a pleasant ride, and while I feel sorry for Gaga (because of management issues), I still think she got a lot of nerve and drive out of it, so it made the Era even more special.

But mostly, what made Gaga stand out back then was her insane drive and will to change the game. Not just pop music, but the world. She was so "preachy" and so secure of her art back then. And the b*tch always had her talent to back it up. She didn't need to rub in everyone's face that she could sing or play the piano by releasing an acoustic album: she simply did it while playing pop music. She combined both worlds so well, it was truly amazing. And that was what made me stay, and come back to the forums everyday.

Then came Joanne. Truth be told, I was expecting a less abrasive album with happier lyrics. I was here for it. It was a side from Gaga that we still didn't know quite well. But everyone still expected a message through the album that she would repeat over and over in her interviews. Everyone expected a new sound, something different for her that proved her versatility, but still risky and fresh. Everyone expected new outfits. Maybe not as extravagant, because everyone was kind of over it, but maybe something a little less "too much", more relaxed and stripped down, but still Gaga, still conveying a message, still on brand, still polished.

And we got nothing like that. To me, Joanne is an album with barely no message (yeah, an homage to her aunt, but with songs about masturbation and guys in the middle). It didn't sound very fresh to me, and country sounded like a huge risk when it comes to every other market outside the US (maybe that's why I didn't like it). There were almost no interviews and no performances. No message at all. The promotional campaign was almost inexistent. There was nothing to follow or to discuss, really. So why stay around? Why follow someone who didn't impress me or represent me as much as she used to, at least during this fase of her career? The drive and the nerve didn't seem to be there anymore. I still appreciate a lot everything she did in the past. I have all the respect for that. But it feels like she wants to step back a little, like she wants to be more subtle and have a calmer life. And I can't blame her for it. But she can't blame me for not wanting to follow that anymore, or any other fan that does the same. In the words of wisdom by Tatianna: "Choices". Back then I thought like: "I would NEVER, EVER leave her, she represents everything that I want to be, she is fierce, she goes against everyone and she is not apologetic about it". Now it just feels sad, because that deep love for her that I had disappeared. Like now I have the money to buy the backstage pack, and I'm like: "yeah no, not now... If it was back in the BTW/ARTPOP Era, for sure, but not now". And I hope she proves me wrong in the future. I'm not salty about not loving Joanne, I knew someday there would come an album that I would like less (or not at all). I'm still here for her, anyway. Maybe not following every step, but still praying for that metal album.

I'd love a metal album too! We all knows she's a fan of metal. And she do more screams like she does for Bloddy Mary.
