Civil Rights Laws Won’t Apply to LGBTQ People

If I'm not mistaken, Title VII originally didn't apply to LGBTQ+ people because it prevented discrimination based on "race, color, religion, sex, or national origin", so I guess technically, they're right??

Also though, don't @ me saying I'm being homophobic or anything, but I don't think Title VII ever considered LGBTQ+ people because, unfortunately, thinking about the LGBTQ+ community then wasn't a big deal.

That being said, they need to amend that or just do something about it because not having protections against the LGBTQ+ community is blatant discrimination and shouldn't be allowed whatsoever.

Tbh Florida would've been a better example. Trust me, I live here :nails:

Me too. Everyone where I live is like "why should I care about the LGBTQ community when I'm not in it?" I hate it:saladga:

Yeah, at some point it was assumed that "sex" included "sexual orientation". This is just Trump's goons saying it doesn't but it still can depending on what the courts choose to believe :laughga: It definitely does need to be amended though and sexual orientation needs to be included. I think gender identity would be covered by "sex" though

Because odds are you people have gay kids, gay relatives, you know gay people, like, have some consideration for people other than yourselves :laughga:

Like, I'm not trying to downplay anything and I'm not trying to be homophobic (I'm part of the community after all), but in this case, I'd hate to say, but I think Trump's goons may have something here. Sex and sexual orientation are different and I don't think the courts will see it any differently.

That being said, yes, it needs to be amended or something because, especially in times like these, the LGBTQ+ community needs protection. I don't care who you are, but you're diluted if you think that the LGBTQ+ community is just fine right now and there won't be any negative repercussions of Trump's actions.

A case could be argued for gender identity to be covered by sex, however.
