StrawberryBlond 14,264
I really hope S&S doesn't get that #1 - it doesn't seem fair that it should climb there when in the UK charts, down is the only way to go. I just don't understand how its kept at #2 all this time. It's awful. I don't know how anyone could find it danceable as it's boring as hell. Jessie J must be hellbent on getting her new album out in time for The Voice, if she's postponing her tour like this: http://www.independe...um-8417829.html I've got the feeling that she'll be a one album wonder, in terms of success. Considering how much all her many singles were promoted, she was probably a bit annoyed that only 2 out of 7 went to #1 and I think it was just because those two were the most commercial, safe sounding ones and there was so much hype around her. And her album didn't go to #1 either. The public's getting really sick of her tonedeaf singing, ridiculous outfits and full of herself attitude. She says that her new album will have lots of sad sounding songs as well, and considering that all her success has come from happy songs so far...I know her fans were a bit put out with her very generic sounding re-release, which sounded like rejects from Katy Perry sessions, musically, lyrically and vocally. I, and many others, have to be constantly reminded that Katy Perry doesn't sing Domino, because it sounds just like her. While I may not like Jessie's music, at least she was trying to be unique and different with her debut, but that re-release just rubbished any artistic integrity she had. Magoo 6
^Need to realise that in the UK weekly charts #2s are often better than the #1s 'Love The Way You Lie' being an example and see here http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-20881216

StrawberryBlond 14,264
Top 40 singles of 2012. http://www.officialc...-revealed-1784/ Top 40 albums - note BTW's 2011 sales would be enough for #2 if released last year. http://www.officialc...-revealed-1785/ The albums list really surprised me. Shocked that more major releases didn't sell that well. No sign of Justin Bieber or Madonna there. I know MDNA sold little over 125,000 to date despite it being released 9 months ago (looks like her chances for a future #1 album are in peril if anyone huge in the UK releases something at the same time). And I think that failing to make the top 40 just goes to show that Justin is not the worldwide sensation that he's hyped up to be. If he can't even shift 400,000 copies in the English-speaking UK, the third biggest music market in the world within 7 months of release, then he's hardly going to be the king of pop one day. Lord knows how he's going to sell out those 11 UK arena tour dates. Rita Ora's sold more copies than him and she's touring in O2 academies. So happy for Lana, though. If this list was just based on album released in 2012, she'd be #2. So proud that the UK recognised her talent and I only hope she continues with it. StrawberryBlond 14,264
DAMN. Justin only sold 141,700 copies (even Alicia sold more than him and her album's only been out a month and she has very little promotion these days). I never knew it was that bad, I thought he'd be 300,000 or something. OD have definitely overtaken him in the UK. Lol at Nicki barely selling over 242,000 - Gaga sold more than that in the first two weeks of release and Nicki's had 9 months. It's amazing to think Kylie's sold more copies of a re-imagining orchestral album than Madonna's sold of her new studio album. Pretty shocking that Girls Aloud have only sold 132,500 copies of their greatest hits album considering that the band is hotly tipped to split after this. They've got 21 tour dates to sell out that will cater for far more people than the ones who bought the album....oh dear. Gaga has done very well for an album that wasn't a big hit in the UK. Most artists debut on the UK charts with less than 118,700 and that's how many she sold for a moderately successful album that's a year old. Hopefully, ARTPOP will take her over the 1 million mark. By the way, what are Cheryl Cole's and Tulisa's sales? Are they so bad that they couldn't even be printed?
