Still can't believe Taylor's doing so well considering she's had no UK promotion and has never had good single performance over here. It really is a mystery. And I think Girls Aloud's new song is only really known about through their fans, which maybe explains why it hasn't started charting yet, seeing as it was released yesterday. I don't understand why it only got one piece of promotion way back in November because it was obviously released with the hope of becoming Christmas #1.

I personally think Stay is a wonderful song. The credit needs to go to Mikky Ekko for writing it though. Anyone could've sung Rihanna's part, though she does sound good. The way this marketing has been done is so shady though Release two ballads as singles when the rest of the album is mostly ghetto filler ****. It's the Adele strategy.

By "the Adele strategy" I mean they know what kind of singles to put out to try and shift copies of Unapologetic because they saw what sold 21. They evidently don't give a **** what the album sounds like as a whole, because they are painting a very different picture with the single choices.

To be honest, I'm relieved that Gaga doesn't have a new single out right now: she'd have been eaten alive. At this time of year, there's always some sentimental and/or charity related single trying to make a push for Christmas #1 and there's pressure on the public to buy it so they don't have to feel guilty. It means new singles by genuine artists who need to promote their new albums get trampled on. I'm all for a good cause, but why does it always have to be attached to music? I know that some people who really wanted to donate to the charities that were endorsed by X Factor preferred to make a personal donation so they wouldn't line record excutives pockets by buying the charity single. It's a shame that the record industry is so jaded by thinking that the only way Brits will donate to charity is by downloading a single. Comic Relief and Children In Need have proved that the British public are very charitable without the aid of a charity single.
