Whenever I see that Saira's the last poster in one of the chart threads, I rush here to read because I know it'll be her telling people to stay on topic.

On that note, night lovelies :flutter:

It's nice to discuss general thoughts about artists and their music, but please remember to keep the discussions focused on the topic of charts performances, sales figures or competitive positions within the pop music market. Thanks, guys! :sara:

Ok sorry, Saira

Please tell us you'll be back regularly discussing once Gaga starts charting :(

I was just gone for a couple of days because I got food poisoning. :noparty:

Hope you feel better as well Bloody Mary. Go eat some yogurt and get some probiotics in your system ;)

I'm not surprised JB was super hyped sales wise and has fallen. I don't really see him as the artist to gain fans later on to sell records seeing as his singles aren't ever heavily supported. They worked really hard for radio this time around but he needs another hit song to do any damage.

The only song I see doing well on the charts for him is Beauty & a Beat feat. Nicki Minaj

The rest will flop miserably imo

Thanks for the kind words, guys! And more importantly, thank you for getting back on topic. ;)

Boyfriend is an oddly catchy song for Bieber standards. Not saying it's my taste, by any means; just saying it's a little stronger in terms of production quality than his previous cuts!

I'm surprised it got so much airplay considering his music directed at 11 year old girls

I hear it all the time :pukey:

Agreed. But the only song by him that I like is "Turn To You" his mother's day song. It was genuine. I bet if it was released as a radio single it would have flopped though.

P.S. -- Can't wait for new Gaga music to get on the charts again!! She's gonna take over in the latter half of 2012 and in 2013. Hopefully she'll get stuff done in time for Grammy's consideration. She needs her Grammy Sweep!!!!!

Same here!

It's because the beat is catchy enough to transcend the confines of the "11 year old girl" sector of the market. That's a big step forward for Bieber!

Not to be mean, but I kind of hope so. I'm not a Bieber fan, personally.

It's ok neither am I. He annoys me.

And I am soooooooooo surprised that CMM blocked WA actually. I thought CMM would budge once WA's video came out. Guess not :ohwell:

Bieber is actually much more a "s-x object" than any female singer, because he's more dependent on members of the opposite s-x who drool over him for his fanbase. Pop girls have a more diverse fanbase, so they don't just sing sappy love songs for teenage boys.

But Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Robbie Williams, and Justin Timberlake all started out with screaming teen girl fans.
