If you looked back to 2013, when Applause vs. Roar were a thing, it was easy to say which song is the generic one (and we all know how the GP loves generic bops). Lmao Applesauce is as generic in production (ok slightly better) and melody as Roar, it's only the lyrics that aren't. Do What U Want and Gypsy are other examples of generic songs on ARTPOP. Roar is more generic than Applesauce, but both can still be generic. The lyrics imo put the GP off of loving the song (no one knows what they mean compared to her older hits) 광야로 걸어가 알아 네 home ground

It has a generic beat, generic production, a generic catchy chorus... the only innovative thing about the song is the lyrics in the verses but das it 1. Oops accidentally typed ARTPOP instead of Applause I think from all these recent ARTPOP posts 2. I just used that as an example because they were both the competing singles back then, and that was truly a generic song 3. You're not wrong about the chorus But the whole song has that Gaga-uniqueness to it. I think the only Gaga song I could call generic is The Cure

Applause and The Cure are the only Gaga songs I had to "force myself to like". If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. I personally think DWUW was a much better single choice than Applause. To me it never gets old, but it is not my fav. DWUW is the generic one not Applause.
