Gaga Is Too Good For Her Own Material

I agree. I've always thought that people get so shocked by her raw talent when she does covers because her own style of music limits her. Who would have thought that the same woman who sings about getting a spray tan in Taipei is the same woman who blew the world away with her sound of music tribute. Lol only Gaga

I kinda agree, songs like Dancin' In Circles kinda cheapen a masterpiece like Joanne. However, I think these are just a few.

I mean c'mon, Pokerface, Bad Romance, Marry The Night, The Edge Of Glory, ARTPOP, Joanne are masterpieces and any artist would be proud to not only sing them in front of the crowd but also to say that they have been written by them.

But I get your point and I agree completely. She has yet to release a song that is on par with the amount of talent she has and is capable to showcase it. But she's not alone on that. Whitney, Celine, Michael, Aretha biggest and most iconic hits weren't made by them, but for them. I guess she just need to open herself to collaborate more with people than can see her as big as she actually is. Fernando Garibay was near to that, and that's how The Edge of Glory (her biggest song yet imo) came to life.

Adding to that, that's why I love Mariah Carey so much. She managed to coproduce and write songs that matched her talent and became iconic songs (Hero, My All, We Belong Together, etc.).

I'd agree on Marry The Night, The Edge of Glory and Joanne. That's the songs my GP-friends name when I ask them what their fav Gaga songs are. :chica:

Speechless, Bad Romance and So Happy I Could Die are all Gagaworthy though. :tea:

I will also say this: She holds a lot back on studio versions. Listening to Born This Way life vs. the studio version is like a diffrence between night and day. I wish this vocal was on the studio of Born This Way, along with the electric guitars and live drums.

One of the few articles that stuck around me is one describing Gaga's vocal ability in concert, and how she chooses to be approachable in studio but fear-inducingly good in person. I personally wish she would bring more of being fear-inducingly good into the studio because she's absolutely capabale of it.

I completely agree, as much as I enjoy Gaga's discography, I do feel underwhelmed by her body of work musically speaking. Don't get me wrong as I do love her music, but I have to be honest when I say I love her more for HER than her music.

I'm not saying her music is bad, it isn't. I love a lot of her songs and enjoy the majority of them but I still believe she has yet to deliver her full potential musically.

(Edit)

Also I want to add that I find that Gaga has such a charismatic aura or presence in her voice that she even makes basic bops like The Cure enchanting BUT I want more! Gaga please!!

Funny because I think half of Joanne is better than Bad Romance. But I agree to an extent, she still hasn't shown her full potential.

I'd drag you as I love Gaga so much, but you just spilled the truth (Plus, you're arguably the most iconic member on this forum :whitney:) .

I think she's getting better as a songwriter, as we can see with Joanne. But I believe she needs to abandon the routine pop structure she's used to to achieve the greatness she can deliver with her performance.

Her making covers is something unreal. It's just pure bliss and emotion. Hopefully she learns that it's not just about the earworms, but the music and the lyrics.

I get what you're saying. Her songs don't always show off her immense talents.

I kinda agree. I really thought LG5 was gonna be her most sophisticated and intellectual album to date, but her lyrics were still immature and simple. I want her to write a genius song. One that uses not only sophisticated words, but are sung in a way that hits the soul hard. I thought LG5 was gonna be her Ray Of Light and of course I ended up disappointed.

But don't get me wrong I still love her immature side. ARTPOP is def her best album, but if she's not gonna release ACT II then I want a sophisticated album :poot:

Honestly you can see that she struggled with singing G.U.Y live cause it limits her vocals.

The same for Marry The Night, the performances are godly, I wish the studio version had stronger vocals and a stronger instrumental.

Right?

I've been saying that for a while now. And that's why her music is not critically acclaimed. People expect more from Gaga because she's very talented.

But she never goes all in with her music, it's always watered down.
