Lazarus 425
Not trying to add wood to this doomed fire of Little Chartster hope regarding new material, but... All this talk about new music... Just gonna throw a little late night theory out for y'all fats... Even those that aren't Little Chartsters... It would be amazing for Gaga to retake her chart dominance. Of course, thinking from the perspective of a record label... Gaga has the potential to create hits, still. Smashes, even. They, as her label, have the power to push them to that status. Music doesn't solely rely on people choosing to buy it anymore. It's also about the label push. A very logical strategy, chart-wise, again thinking from the perspective of a record label, would be to break through her streaming barrier, maybe connect a little to the 'kids' with The Cure... We all know everybody has heard The Cure. The radio support has been massive, paid or otherwise. The sound is much more appealing, and even though it wasn't a chart-topper (Yet?), it definitely connected the younger streaming audience to music they're much more interested in. Of course, The Cure has done this already, and regardless of what happens from here on out, she has recaptured some GP audience with it. Hear me out. In my opinion, were I the one managing for Gaga... (Of course, this is without any regards for what Gaga actually wants, it is only what I think would be an excellent strategy for chart dominance at this point.) It would be a very smart move to now 'Go in for the kill' so to speak- Release another trend-friendly song like The Cure. Perhaps even better... She'll have good GP interest or at least curiosity, given the audience she connected to with The Cure. This time around, though, she could kick the promo into high gear and guaranteed have a huge end-of-summer smash. Good Spotify advertising, radio airplay, a beautiful, eye-popping video, amazing performances. Banners and the level of advertising all over the place that Kety did with Witness... Commercials, Snapchat ads. Pull a Closer... Release it near the end of the summer, shove it down people's throats, make it last until next year. Remixes. Should it seem a possibility, they could even add a feature later on (IF the stars were to align and the chemistry to work,) to improve the longevity of the song. Essentially: What if The Cure was simply GP bait, and this new stuff is the main course? (Bone Apple Teeth tease) That could explain the holding off on promo with The Cure... The Cure could have been the label setting up for a bigger future. Of course, this is just a little thought that came to mind when thinking about the path forward for Gaga. Don't come for me, loves. Discuss! ugh
Red Velvet 10,988
The purpose for that is just for the radio coins. I'm like some kind of supernova

Enemas 25
To me - I felt like she released it out there for Sonja. I felt like Gaga knew she didn't have much time left in this world and this was Gaga's one last gift to her, to show the world how much Sonja meant to her. Of course she did say she released the song just "because it had to be heard for its message" but I lowkey think it was more personal then that. Well it stagnated pretty hard a few weeks after it came out and then a few weeks ago Z100 put it on power rotation which is like 15-20 spins a day and it started getting good updates again. But it was kinda late at that point. Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!

Well, for Gaga, I'm sure that could have been part of her motivation. I'm not saying The Cure was an entirely worthless song to Gaga, of course she had to have some personal motivation to release it given how careful she is with what she releases. Just, from a record label standpoint, I think it could be a part of a bigger picture. ugh
AlexanderMagno 10,746
In my opinion, The Cure's purpose was to test Gaga's name and streaming power. It's a Lady Gaga song, it has one of the most generic trendy sounds she has ever released, and yet it has failed to make an impact. Yes, it's her most streamed song or something like that, but given streaming platforms' growth it's only natural that each song she releases from now on will be more streamed than before. The radio support wasn't that massive. I still don't get why they did nothing with the song. I think herself and her management team believed the song would grow for itself without too much promo or a video, but she's not Rihanna.
Denys 848
We been knew all of this... but promo? Except Troy somehow gets back on board, I don't see bobby making gaga lift an unwilling finger. At this point am sure interscope is constantly begging her to promote

Sure but it also did a lot better than any of the songs from Joanne did and that really wasnt that long ago when Joanne was released. I wish it had done better though. This is so bittersweet for me though basically, she released a new generic song only six months after releasing Joanne. The album and its singles already were lacking attention, but instead of supporting the album properly she decides to release The Cure. Why? Was she so affected by Joanne "flopping"? Or what? I don't know... The "old Gaga" would have given us a better insight into her intentions. Ever since the release of Joanne, it's like she doesn't give anything away. During ARTPOP, she made so many statements about her actions, but in the end we had no Venus video, no DWUW video, no app and she started contradicting herself. Now, she says nothing, so whatever happens there will be an excuse and she will never contradict herself.
