There was no blockbuster lead single; CTTR was a mild hit peaking at no 4. The damage was done with the awful follow up single and the constant and repeated disses to Taylor Swift. Having read that the supposed 4th single is Save to Draft, then this album will go the way of Glory. There are two more potential singles imo: Roulette and the title track Witness. All of the other songs feel like filler and in general, the production of the album feels very dated. Not only that, I think she has alienated a lot of fans with her constant political talk. She isn't radiohead or Kendrick Lemar, shes a bubblegum popstar with a broad demographic that includes both democrats and republicans. Alienating half of your fanbase was never a wise business decision. There is a reason you didn't hear Taylor Swift say **** about politics during the election: she wants them coins coming in. Come Katy, Paula Abdul and Debbie Gibson are waiting for you.... teaaaaa. Plus Katy Being over 30 hurts here. Before during the teenage dream era. People saw her as a hot sex kitten with bops that little girls could relate to. Now people see her as 30 something year old women trying to hold onto her youth Not to mention Pop Radio drops you once you turn 30.

That's why the critics and people in general accept it so easily. At least there's some risk on Witness. Taylor played it safe with her pop album, 'cause she's not interesting at all and doesn't have anything new to offer. She's just a cute blond star who wants hits (and the checks). Irrespective of whatever you think of Taylor Swift, is Katy Perry really "interesting"? She's about as typical as the stereotyped bubblegum pop singer possibly can be. Not sure what risks there are on witness? Unless you count putting forgettable, tuneless filler on an album a risk. A sales risk for sure.

NIghtmareElm 2,606
It's a bad album. It has maybe like three or four good songs. Only one was somewhat of a hit. Her performances have been pretty bad also. More people are liking Gaga again. The rap scene is dominating the scene also. Gaga may have underperformed during ARTPOP but at least people admitted that she sounded good. Katy? It's just tragic with her. People stopped taking her seriously. It's like nobody cares. I honestly feel Katy's key to success is Dr. Luke. Even though he's a total creep, he produced her biggest hits. The only songs that could be hits are Deja Vu and Tsunami. PrinceOfTheStorm 5,904
It's the great drop, le oh no. To be fair, Deja Vu, the title track and Roulette were my only likings from this album. Well, lets hope everything turns around in Katys favor. signing out
