This season (last couple of seasons, really) has been so damn infuriating and just a giant mess to say the least, but what gets me the most is what the writers (if you can even call them that—looking at you, Marlene King) have done to Alison.

Alison used to be such an interesting character. She was smart, manipulative, and mysterious—the perfect character to base the show around. I was so insanely excited when it was revealed she was alive because she was by far my favorite, but I should have realized that the writers would ruin her.

Her “development” into the scared damsel is just too much. She is no longer mysterious, manipulative, or smart. I know that was part of the writers ~plan~ for her become softened by the whole A experience, but the writers took it too far and she lost all of her charm. All of it. Alison DiLaurentis now feels like mushy soup of a character. It’s a real shame because of how well Sasha played the mean girl.

The writers should have gone with the Courtney/Alison twin thing if not only because of how well Sasha could have acted it. She’s probably the only cast member who I would trust to have the acting ability to play the real villain. It would’ve been a rather predictable reveal since it was in the books, but at least the show has hinted at it. The Charles thing, on the other hand, feels like fanfiction—which I guess, if you think about it, that’s exactly what this show is.

Completely agree with you about Alison's character. Pre season 5 she was such an interesting character. Right now I don't care much for her and she does nothing for the plot at all except showcase inappropriate relationships and father-daughter issues. Kinda wish Mrs. Grunwald had never come to pluck her out the ground that night.

Have you all read about this Justin Fix person playing a character called Rhys in 6x09? Botoxlene mentioned him in a teaser video she shot between injections and he's meant to look a lot like Jason. If this random doppelgänger turns out to be the big bad Charles then please restrain me from flying down to LA and clocking Marlene with her non existent Emmy award for good writing and burying that b---h next to Bethany. Or maybe make the surgeon inject a little bit too much botox to her face and allow her to never open her mouth again so she can't spread sh*t like she's been doing since 2010.

My honest theory right now is that Charles is working alongside CeCe (his "friend and ally") but CeCe is the HBIC and she's just making Charles do the dirty work because she's told him the Liars killed Bethany whom he was in love with. CeCe is obsessed with Alison pre her disappearance and wants to play with the Liars like her dolls like Alison used to. I'm ready for CeCe in 609 and 610. Come THRU queen

Wren hasn't appeared since forever. He didn't even show up when Spencer visited, so I can't really imagine him being Charles. HOWEVER, they brought back Sara's friend from a few seasons ago, so I wouldn't be surprised. The show is a mess right now anyway. :green:

Yeah. Him being out of the picture actually makes so much sense...he spent all of that time away BUILDING the dollhouse. Besides the timeline of Season 3-5a is only three months. Then there is a time jump to march in 5b. So basically in the Rosewood time he's been gone a month.

Charles can only be Toby or Wren. Both of them were in the pilot and, according to Marlene, A was in the pilot. Not sure if that is something we can believe because of all the empty promises and lies.

FINALE UPDATE: ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED ON AUGUST 11th AND THESE ALONE, ACCORDING TO ABCFAMILY.

- Who killed Toby's mother?

- Who hit Alison in the head with a rock the night she went missing?

- Who is Red Coat?

- Who killed Bethany?

- Who is the Black Widow?

- Why has "A" been targeting the girls all this time?

Toby can't because Charles is one year older than Jason, and also he was retrieving the girls the night they escaped from the Dollhouse.

Also, Marlene said "A" was in the pilot....but she was referring to Mona. Not "Big A". She cleared that up herself. If anything "Big A" is in the 3x01 premiere, since that's when Charles started taking over.

Oh, that makes sense! :udidnt:

Do you know what happened to the confirmed twin? I remember reading about it and thinking Charles was Jason's twin, but Charles is older than him, so that is not possible.

The only time a twin was confirmed was by Tammin Sursok who plays Jenna Marshall. She said, "Someone has a twin sister". None of the executive producers have confirmed a twin, and I doubt since Jenna has been extremely UNinvolved with the show she would even know who A is.

What you probably have to realize is that although the idea of Charles was invented during Season 3, there were probably SOOO many things that changed. Did you know that Spencer was supposed to be "A", like for real? But the network shot down the idea (because they didn't want an uproar) and they had to take a different direction?

Spencer?? :omg:

Tbh, I wouldn't have minded one of the liars being A. That would have been such an amazing turn of events, if written well.
