Melech 9,900
A court in Tunisia decided Wednesday to temporarily ban the screening of the film Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot, after the film was banned from screening in Lebanon because of the Israeli actress. The Tunisian court ruled on a petition filed by the secular People's Movement Party against the screening of the film, due to Gal Gadot's service in the IDF, claiming she was "a partner to the latest Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip." The Tunisian Ministry of Culture initially planned to allow the screening of Wonder Woman, but the party attacked the decision: "The move is another attempt to legitimize normalization with the Israeli enemy, which public opinion unanimously agrees to oppose and stop." Prevention of the screening in Tunisia is temporary, and no final decision has been reached on the subject. Jordan also suspended screening of the movie Wednesday pending a decision by the country’s media commission. “Cinemas that screen the film before the commission approves it will be closed, as this would be considered a violation of the law,” Mohammad Quteishat, director of Jordan’s Media Commission, told the Petra News Agency. Wonder Women was also taken off the schedule of a film festival in Algeria, however festival organizers told AFP that it had been pulled because of “administrative issues linked to exhibition rights.” A petition titled, “Non! Pas en Algérie” (No, Not in Algeria), was launched last week, calling for a ban on screening the movie in the country. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4973339,00.html Racism at it finest. Guest
I think it more has to do with woman empowerment that most of the muslim world are not fans of. Let's be real (with few rare cases of moderate muslims)
Fafo 45
Y'all are delusional af! The reason behind the ban is in no way whatsoever to disempower women or to stand against Israel as a nation. Wonder Woman stands for female empowerment and delivering justice and aiding those in need, which is quite hypocritical considering how the lead actress is the exact opposite of that as she was responsible -directly and indirectly- with the killing of many people in lebanon during the 2006 war and in the continuous Israeli-Palestinian Gaza strip attacks. Regardless of ur position towards the whole Palestinian-Israeli thing, you can't tell me that hiring her to play Wonder Woman was the right decision when she is doing everything that Wonder Woman doesn't stand for IRL

littlepotter 76,610
The banning of the movie is really moronic. People can still torrent it. Just because an actress is from Israel doesn't make it an Israeli movie. That said, I completely understand why they did this. You can't rationalize with someone over war. It may not be logical but in their eyes it's a woman who served the enemy in the military and then going out unharmed and making a movie for us to pay to watch. Their generation lived through the war, they're not about to forget it. So I'd appreciate if every moron here kept their mouth shut unless they actually know what they are talking about. chaeri pls

Let's be real (with few rare cases of moderate muslims) Actually, Lebanon is almost half Christian and half Muslim. The government is also predominantly Christian, so this being "against women" is not the case. It's more of a case of the lead actress supporting the Israel-Palestine conflict and the 2006 Lebanese-Israeli war. That being said, I'm Lebanese and I'm against the banning of the film. Most people around me are too. It's a dumb move because it is easily accessible online and won't exactly affect the movie, but I do get where they're coming from. gagzus 22,941
Well I'm going to see it this week so hopefully it's a good movie, I know on Twitter many of the Lebanon people I follow hate Israel but I guess that's just the way it goes shame they're banning the best superhero movie in a long time (or so I've heard). Especially one with a female lead.

I kinda understand the case for Lebanon. Tunesia i don't, especially because that country is a reason why Israel is si powerful. She was a fitness trainer btw, not a soldier. Should we ban every movie with Russian actors because of Russia ?
