Another way to solve this would be to keep wages the same but have the government give people more welfare to meet a basic standard of living. But conservatives don't want that either. Minimum wage jobs could never employ only young people. It'll never happen. We need people to continue working in those areas of work. This is also an issue of both sides making sure they get what they want. If you work minimum wage then you have to make sacrifices as do the corporations that employ them. It's been far too long. Do I think that a single person should be able to support themselves entirely on the minimum wage without working overtime? Not really. The vast (and I mean vast) majority of people who earn the minimum hourly wage are teenagers who live at home, aka being supported by their parents.
