Migos isn't cheap but neither is Mark Ronson as a producer. He just came off recoding the biggest hit in the last 5 years. Maybe the decade I don't know and the writer for MR probably wasn't cheap either. Considering she writes smash after smash hit country songs.

My point is no one had an inexpensive album or budget on their hands. These comments all stemmed from one original comment that said Katy spent lots and lots of money while Gaga spent next to nothing on Joanne and now you add the expense of a feature and I answer with the expense of the producer and writer. We can be here all night or day. The point is they both spent lots of money.

Nobody has said that Joanne budget was next to nothing, but it is a much less expensive than Katy's. What producer you believe that get the most, Mark Ronson or Max Martin? What collaborations were more expensive Migos and Nicki or Father John Misty and Kevin Parker?

What was more expensive for a lead single? close an entire theme park or shooting in the desert? Katy's album is obviously high budget in all fields. Nothing on Joanne promotion can compare to Spotify deal in terms of investment.

Gaga was mid budget to record and cheap regarding promotion.

And above all, Joanne was not given away with tickets.

The fact that it reached its peak in most countries its first week, led by INSANE first week radio payola (reaching 60M AI in one week in the US with absolutely no buzz, it can't get more obvious). let's consider that a hit, ok

I'm sure you also consider it on the same level as Applause too.

Yes we can still consider that a hit. The thing is, most people are basing a song's being a hit on the amount of promo it got and the artist's standard.

Okay yes in Katy's standard, CTTR was not the kind of hit we are expecting (Roar/Dark Horse sized hit) . It underperformed as far as "Katy's standard" is concerned. But it's still a hit, as far as it's chart performance is concerned.

Why are you guys trying so hard to pretend that the Joanne was a budgetless era? Yes Katy's era has been more expensive so far but that's because she just came off from a successful era with a $200M+ grossing tour. Of course she has more budget than Gaga. Will Katy's next album receive the same budget? Absolutely not. But that doesn't mean the label didn't invest on Gaga at all. All the promo and performances costed money. Even the discounts were used at the expense of the budget. MR sold a million copies but half of them were sold at half price, because Interscope wanted to focus on restoring her career in the long run and they believe in her potential, that's why they were willing to give up some of the short-term profit. And of course MR was pushed by the label. Again, it went from zero airplay on KIIS to power rotation back to zero airplay within 3 three weeks. "Coachella announcement effect" is not a thing. :madge:

Thinking about how much can charge Hillary Lindsay for a collab I remembered that CTTR was written by Sia...

That obviously was paid for the events where she performed. Do you think she paid the SB costs? or for Japan TV performances? Or Victoria Secret?

Oh Lord. I give up. Joanne cost $0.00 to make. PI was shot in a sandbox and MR was shot in the backstage of a high school theatre.

Joanne promo bugdet was $0.00.

Also ticket bundles didn't help Rebel Heart at all, yet it was a sold out tour.

Please don't respond. I don't care anymore. I need a shower, now.

You think the Japanese TV channel paid for Gaga and co.'s air tickets etc.? She went to Japan to promote her album. No promo is "free".
