I don't want Gaga to turn into someone like P!nk. She's already turned into Pink. There's no turning back now.

Overall radio loves P!nk, not just HAC and AC. If anything Meghan Trainor, Colbie Cailat are more suitable comparison for the way things are right now. Hopefully it doesn't stay that way. JustAnotherDay 8,402
This "Troy Carter effect" that Meghan/Gaga/Charlie are suffering from lowkey reminds me of what Tommy Mottola did to Mariah after they got divorced, to a lesser extent of course. He used his connections in radio to cause her singles to flop. Mariah survived for a while by using discounts/remixes/promo to push her songs saleswise but eventually it just didn't work and the lead single to her Charmbracelet album, Through The Rain, only peaked at 81. was NickARTPOP

Honey was a huge hit, My All was big too. Glitter was a flop because that movie was horrible and it still had a number two single. Chamber bracelet was actually her first comeback. The album that did fairly well without hit singles and then EoM was huge. However, I think Gaga and Mariah's early 2000 radio situations are quite similar, hopefully Gaga's We Belong Together is coming. was NickARTPOP
doppelganger 3,933
Mariah managed to pull through because of her then massive fanbase. Loverboy hit #2 just on sales alone.

She could easily cater to an older audience at this point in her career and have great longevity as long as she wants it. Older demographics are very loyal and still actually buy albums. Like someone else said, look at where Katy's at right now - pop and the kiddies are now rejecting her too, and she's still releasing single after single that chases after them. It's not a good look. She's done a great job widening her brand to appeal to an older audience, and she should keep trying to draw them in. I still listen to Top 40 but could care less about most of the hits nowadays, and really could care less about the Ariana Grandes and Selena Gomezes of pop music that are getting hits. I guess that's part of the schism of this thread and forum - the younger kids that were only recently introduced to Gaga want her to have a huge pop radio hit, and the older ones that grew up with her don't really care anymore. It's also a problem for Gaga - she seems to want both and she can't. The Cure is a good song, but a smarter move would've been following MR with a song like Joanne to really cater to the older audience. Could've kept Joanne alive and gave her another push on HAC and AC radio. Considering The Cure's lukewarm performance on streaming and radio, it'll be interesting to see which route they choose to go from now on - keep trying to appeal to pop radio and the streaming generation or embrace her older fans and make AC-style music. Idk I think the cure could have smashed if she actually did something with it. Too bad she didn't Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!
Lion Heart 15,041
Someone dethrone Despacito Please DJ Khaled's new song now #9 DG... I can't see radio supporting this, but we'll see how far it goes and how long it lasts in the Top 10. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀

She has a full radio support and she's still earning top 10 (even #1) hits this decade. What's bad for being like P!nk? Releasing the same albums since 2006? Having zero musical creativity? Not doing anything outside the box? Being musically safe and pandering to the same ol' middle-aged audience? MOR ballads and midtempos that all can blend into each other? This applies to most AC/HAC artists. They're all boring af. Million Reasons is a great record for what it is but watch them try to recreate another one for LG6 and LG7 and LG8. BabyTellMeYes 75
Once radio drops you that's it for being a top tier artist. Gaga is no longer a radio or sales force though she can put up decent numbers still because of her fan base. Mismanagement of her recent singles and albums has only expedited this process of decline. I think that's why ASIB is getting all of her attention right now. If it does well, she can still remain one of the biggest celebrities in the world regardless of her commercial performance in music.
