The GP/radio would never be here for those Aura verses or that intro. Applause was the best choice.

Nope. Aura would've been a club smash, and the chorus would've become iconic and one of her most well-known. No one could relate to Applause and it had cringey lyrics. Everyone I know hated Applause.

Aura (Demo)/PARTYNAUSEOUS -> Venus -> DWUW/Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe -> Applause would've been so damn swell. I don't think Aura would've necessarily smashed on radio, but it probably could've helped her transition into the streaming market earlier, along with PARTYNAUSEOUS- potentially as a promo single- which definitely would've. It's all Monday morning quarterbacking,= though, so who really knows

Even if Aura would've underperformed, it would've been an event. The video would've gone viral and people would be talked about the use of a burqa. It was the right kind of controversy imo. Imagine if her VMA opening was similar to her swine fest performance of Aura. Miley whew?

Not if she used the same budget as MR music video :giggle:

Gaga had planned on Aura being her first single, even down to her premiere of the song at the 2013 VMAs (drones, blood and other crazy sh1t). It was MTV and her record label who conspired to tear down her vision.

What did Gaga ever do to deserve an injustice like this?

I'm tired of the disrespect. Our girl deserves way better than this

I think her vision was clear for MR but why are you talking about it, the topic at hand is Aura.  :poot:

With a nice video and a good radio edit (without the intro) it would have been definitely a top 5. The right option was Applause though. It was more radio friendly and less controversial. Gypsy would have been the perfect closer for the era.

Makes me mad to this day. :(

I loved Aura since I heard it, it took more time for me to appreciate Applause as a good bop it is. If Gaga would have gotten her vision through it could have been a viral hit, although I don't know if it had done good on the radio (it's not radio friendly imo). But on the other hand, people had somehow decided to turn against her and I don't know if any song would have changed that...

Lol Aura would be a freaking DISASTER. Applause was the best choice for lead (and it slayed)

Aura would've flopped so hard. The radios would never be here for that intro. I agree that applause should've been the last single to close the era but unless she made aura more radio friendly, i'm happy that they didn't choose it.
