Is this the only time you've ever really followed someone like this? Throughout my life I've been a fan of different bands and artists, and I really don't think you realize how great Gaga fans have it.  Look at the front page of Gagadaily and see all the cool **** she's doing recently, and in a short amount of time. She's had such a big year already, has kind of been everywhere, and is hugely mainstream in general. Like, I've had to wait over 5 years for new material from some of my faves. If you are embarrassed because someone in your life only thinks of her as "that weird girl who sang that Poker Face song" turn them onto her new stuff. And who cares about comparing her to her peers when they're all the same to a lot of people anyway. I think you are focusing too much on thinkpieces and the online forum world when those places don't paint all of the picture and always come from a biased place and/or usually pushing some sort of agenda (My fave is better than yours! Look at how cool I am, I'm intelligent for liking this artist and bashing this artist etc.) Be proud of being an individual with your own taste and not only liking whoever is topping BB charts, or who P4K is circlejerking over.
