I get what you mean and her impact has been huge in 2017 however, besides Katy there has been no A-list female competitor yet... so to say she is on top again is reaching. I mean Rihanna is still relevant even when she has not released anything. LOTB  was a hit without any Promo. That cannot be said For Gaga at this time. As I stated before gaga is doing amazing so far in 2017 and I could not be happier. But saying she is on TOP again is reaching. :awkney:

I think doing amazing and garnering critical acclaim = being on top :awkney: And tbh, being "on top" isn't exclusive to one performer at a time, there can be multiple at the top concurrently - it isn't a competition. It's no reach whatsoever to say she is among those in the upper echelon, and will probably remain among them for the remainder of this era :lolly:

We need some hipster attitude in this fanbase.  Start bragging that you stan for an artist that doesn't play by all the rules just to be popular, who is multi-talented, ever expanding, growing her career, challenging herself constantly, and not just sitting around doing the same old **** so the money and fame train keep running.

If other people don't get it, and want to try to put some of you down for something as stupid as being a fan of a different pop star, than they are the ones with the self-image problem and you can rightly tell them you don't give a **** what their opinion is.

Critics always have their own biases and Gaga keeps changing the playbook on them so they don't know what to do with her.   She doesn't stay in their boxes any more than the ones fans try to keep her in.  As far as respect... she is hugely respected by those that probably matter the most to her.... other musicians, songwriters, and artists.

She's won a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar nomination, put on the most popular SB halftime show since MJ, and was cast in a lead role in an iconic movie since then but okay... :oprah:

If you haven't realized yet, people love hating the weird blonde girl at the top bc she has true talent that doesn't need massive writing teams or high profile publicity stunts to sell her artistry :reductive:

I get super jealous of Bey stans, or Adele stans because their favs are consumed by the GP at large and they can discuss their art with their friends.

That's a matter of having the right friends though. I have some friends that don't really enjoy Gaga's music, but they still happily discuss some of her work with me. As do I about artists they love. Not everyone cares about whats 'hot', because usually there are more interesting things to be thinking about.

If you were a true fan you would enjoy the music, I'm happy with Gaga's music and what she has accomplished I could care less about all the other unnecessary things. But that's just me soooo

Stop whining and go do the dishes don't be a baby! Non of the above mentioned is on her level as much is she's not on theirs, anti did well with singles yet album sales in USA and world wide are almost the same plus they both have top 5 hits... Beyoncé's lemonade just did 2m world, increadible? Yes but not so far off from Joanne considering she's in her imperial era now, she also took formation to the Super Bowl a 'song she launched there' yet it didn't make it chat higher than #10, we all know the million reasons story. Adele has album sales and a huge lead but that was it! No cultural impact that is felt half as much as gagz right now... As for Katy? Well I won't go into that but at this point gaga is far from irrelevant, yes not as powerful as back in the day but she's still as strong as he fellow pop girls only diff is now u can identify her weaknesses as opposed to 2008-2012

I've kind of accepted that the time period from TFM through BTW was her cultural zeitgeist as a music icon and it's going to be very difficult for her to ever get back to that, at least in the short-term. The thing that is going to separate her from Katy Perry, Rihanna, Miley, etc. is that she will have longevity even if it isn't always at a giant fever pitch. She'll do movies, she'll do Broadway, she'll record random genre records like Jazz/Heavy Metal/Regae, she'll do charity, she'll have the biggest Vegas residency in history, and fifteen years from now when she has this sudden MASSIVE comeback album like Cher did with "Believe," Gaga will be at home polishing her Oscars and swimming in money like Scrooge McDuck while Katy Perry is hosting "I love the 2010's" on VH1. :reductive:

If you think of it, icons such as Madonna, Britney, Mariah....heaps more receive a lot of hate today and haven't really found much success recently. For example, Britney who was crowned as the princess of pop back in the early 00's use to get so much hype whenever she released new music. Her 2007 comeback was one of the most talked about things that year. Just last year she released an album and literally nobody I know knew about it, like what the hell?:madge: I know it may seem like the world is caving in on Gaga, but she chooses not to follow the music of today, and thats what makes her so vulnerable to hate. She's one of the most real artists out there and thats all that matters:hor:

She's one of the biggest female musicians right now what are you talking about.

I mean you sure you're living in 2017?

You really gotta chill out lol. She's doing great. Doesn't have to be dominating every possible field and be the number one topic of interest forever to be extremely successful.

It's not about what the GP thinks. It's about how you connect to the music and art.

If you connect to her level of success and acclaim instead, then you're here for the wrong reasons.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I've loved Gaga since 2008 and am so happy for everything she's done in the past couple of years and find it among her best and my favorite stuff of hers (except TC...not a fan of that). That said, I totally agree with this post. She's not truly the top again and you know what, I prefer that. I prefer her doing what she loves to do, not playing to the machine and getting worn out again.

I love that this post mentioned LOTB...song took off out of nowhere...no promo, not a current radio trend sound, etc. but it is big because it just connects to people and Rihanna is just a beloved force.

Unfortunately Gaga can't say the same...even when she releases a basic, generic radio song meant just for that platform and streaming, Monsters are streaming it 24/7 and doing a lot of extra in an attempt to make it big...thing is, if it has that power to connect and have people instantly love it, like LOTB, it will and we shouldn't have to be doing all this extra to try and make it big. Just the fact that we are doing so much extra proves she's really not on top, but you know what, that's ok. She had the best SuperBowl since MJ, sold out world tour, great numbers for an album not fitting current trends, is writing and starring in a major movie musical, and is finally acclaimed at large for the true talent she is.

Rihanna

I agree, But Rihanna has to be excluded she already has the longevity with a 10+ years career of hits.
