Pablo 7,783
People started caring about gaga's charts when she wasn't automatically makes top hits, but it's natural for an artist who comes in with HUGE success to start to chart less and less. That doesn't make her less of an icon. I mean look at Madonna, she hasn't had much success on the charts but people still consider her an icon. Kermit 15,807
When the predominance became convinced it actually interpreted the quality of the music. “For me, insanity is super sanity. The normal is psychotic. Normal means lack of imagination, lack of creativity.” ― Jean Dubuffet
GagaTheExplorer 3,053
I didn't even know about Billboard untill like 2011 or something like that I thought that when some say: #1 single is was just a way to say a song was successful
Phoenix 17,395
Around 2009-10 when all the social media and internet were exploding and a new wave of main pop girls appeared - taylor, gaga, katy, rihanna. 💎
Guest
Excellent question, who cares about charts except managers and the artist's team who tryna get money $$$. It's about the MUSIC. I know so many great songs that weren't that successful and is better than the number 1 song right now. Look at the chainsmokers, or other bullshit like that. If your fav is making good music enjoy it and stop worrying about if it's gonna have success, too much time wasted!!!!
Dirtyicecreamz 1,716
it's simple: the internet. In the 2009s, you didn't have too many 11 year olds on twitter who thought they knew everything. You also had fewer trolls. Now, every section of social media is invested with trolls, haters, and crazy stans who spend their lives their computers obsessing over charts that are easily accessible to them Stop the music, Start the drama. androiduser 7,438
when they feel threatened by someone else's success... it start with other female pop stars, and then continues even with males, groups, DJ's etc... suddenly everyone is basic, talentless, not deep enough, not political enough.... and then a basic tropical song comes along, and suddenly their fave invented basic tropical songs
howlerfox 139
I think it started in 2013. I remember people caring about the charts but not as in 2013 when every stan went crazy about it. Since then most of pop women flopped, except for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
