The cure is doing well in all the major markets besides America and even in America it's probably her most successful song on Spotify so it's improving her streaming so I don't understand some of you calling it a "disaster" it's had no promo and it's doing fine in other countries. The UK the us and aus all have the same music taste so if it does well over their there's no reason it can't in America the countries in south   America are the ones you should be worried about with this song seeing how it's doing there. Yall remember the roller coaster Mr was? And how it was number one on iTunes for weeks but couldn't even enter the bb top 20 and it did poorly in almost every country besides us canada and Italy so like calm down radio is actually playing the song and her streaming is increasing

Agreed but #45 on iTunes is terrible and she's not even Top 50 Spotify here. To say everything is a disaster is ridiculous, but I would go as far to say that if she's not able to improve her numbers soon, radio will just stop supporting it and that'll be the end of it.

When the lead single is better than the entire previous compilation.... #HALSEY tbh does the GP like her or no? Feel like she's going to disappear or blow up, probably disappear, but this song is fire it just keeps getting better for me.

the cure is a disaster. Obviously it could recover but seems like another minor hit or nothing song. Seems GP is done with her for the most part. Luckily I am not.

That explains why it was just moved up to the top five on TTH :reductive:

One thing is clear, I don't expect this to ever return to the Top 10 on US iTunes. If she wants Top 10 on the Hot 100, she's going to need to pray radio doesn't drop her from her bad numbers in the US and that streaming moves into more respectable ranges domestically.

You said everything, without acknowledging her success abroad. So.. No. Very different.

I just meant so far it hasn't taken off, like all of the other singles lately upon release. It's an anomaly for A list celebrities to have sleeper hits so the longer it takes, the less likely it is. Sure hope I'm wrong and it's #1 for 8 weeks and you all think I'm a fool, but I won't anticipate it for the reasons mentioned in my other posts. I am optimistic and hopeful but in 3 months if it's still performing like this I won't be holding out for the next big event like radio impact date, music video, etc. Hopefully it grows organically.

The Cure isn't performing like a sleeper hit lmao. It has had a top 40 debut and is showing huge potential on every component. It's performing exactly like what it is, an unpromoted surprise release. Stans become so obsessed with how a song performs in its first few weeks and are so dramatic when songs aren't instant hits even though the biggest hits usually aren't the ones that debut super high.

I agree with the iTunes position here in America but I think it wouldn't take to much to at least get it into the top 20 on iTunes. I think the day the video comes out if they hot track it and discount it it would help but even if the song never takes off in America it is atleast helping her streaming

I don't think it's obsessive to comment on the only available data. It's nowhere near the top of any chart I have access to. Would love a reply to my posts with tons of hard facts to reassure me of it's climb rather than a bunch of ppl just telling me it's doing well. Pls quote me on it so I can know, because I haven't been following closely and I see nothing promising happening.

Akso wish me repeatedly saying im not trying to be argumentative was sufficient to stop these type of replies lolz

It'd be a huge embarrassment to abandon Joanne and follow-up MR with a single that sounds like it could've been produced by Justin Bieber, just for it to bomb in the US. Just being honest. I love The Cure, but she has no excuses to underperform. This was clearly made for the sole purpose of scoring a hit.

Thank you for your reasonable analysis of her chart positions in her home country. I respect you and still understand that you aren't attacking lady Gaga.

I am gonna need them to discount or hot track or whatever to spur radio more, she has a good ratio right now but she needs a better one if she's gonna get those 2m+ radio updates it needs

I agree with you I think the zero promo part is what's hurting her in America tho. America is slow to pick up songs unless there released by someone really trendy at the moment for example Ariana grande. I think if she had time to promote it and it had a radio deal it would be doing how it's doing in Australia tbh

I know what you mean, but even then, we're using zero promotion as an excuse. The song still isn't doing well here outside of early radio support. If she doesn't want or have the time to promote and her team doesn't bother with iTunes placements, that's on them. Regardless of the reason why, she needs to turn it around before radio is like "well ok, we can't do this alone" and just kills it a la Perfect Illusion. (Granted, PI had a lot more against it partly being that the public hated it, but just mean that radio support can go from 100% there to disappearing in a matter of days.)
