Nobody pays to go to prison, those are tax dollars. If it were a public prison, the government would be paying more. Private companies are always more efficient that publicly run ones, that's just a fact of life. The government has to pay public prisons way more than they do private prisons. That's why private prisons exist in the first place... otherwise they'd all be public... Private companies net thousands of dollars per prisoner per year. That's a profit. "Another problem that arises is the fact that these are for-profit businesses. This means if they can cut services from their list, then they save money. Suppose a prison cuts out the cleaning services and the cost per prisoner drops to $90 per day. They instantly earn an additional $10 per day; a number that can add up quickly if there are 1,000 prisoners in the facility. Cutting cleaning makes the company more money: but provides unhealthy and inhumane living conditions for the inmates. Cutting costs ultimately affects the prisoners and diminishes the quality of their living quarters." http://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/062215/business-model-private-prisons.asp

They actually have incentives to not waste money, whereas government employees purposefully waste money. If a government organization goes under budget, their budget for next year is slashed. But if they go over budget, their budget next year is raised. People freak out over private prisons as if they are lobbying for more prisoners. No. These prisons are basically only getting paid to cover operating costs. It's like a private mail company.

Sorry but I don't have my own maid service to pick up after me and neither should they? And if a public prison goes over budget, their budget for next year is increased. They have an incentive to keep costs up. Sorry but I don't want to pay more for the bottom shelf of society?? If you really want to, increased regulation can make sure private prisons have adequate health standards. This way private prisons can exist to reduce costs and we wouldn't have to worry about these issues. Regulations can be instrumental for fixing market shortcomings and moral hazards. Let's use them here instead of scrapping the whole system.

Since when did private prisons get to decide how many prisoners they have?! They don't hand down guilty verdicts, and they do not decide where a prisoner goes to be incarcerated. This is entirely a fear-mongering fallacy dude...

So much for your false narrative that private prisons cram prisoners in and advocate for stricter penalties for law breakers..... Awkward...

Awkward... Nope, that'd be the government's job. Fortunately for us the government's completely immune to the influence of big business and corruption of any kind. It's not like corporations are now considered people or anything by a Supreme Court ruling or anything... Alright, sarcasm aside, issues like these are more nuanced than looking at some empty beds (fun fact: contracts + money goes to them regardless of how occupied they actually are), but enjoy your opinion and don't forget to stream #TheCure on Spotify's TTH playlist. Now you guys are complaining because Trump is actually building one that is being enough to accommodate people? Immigration detainment camps under Obama were so small, people and children had to sleep on the floor and families were broken up because they couldn't be kept in the same facility. Chose your fights you want to have with the Trump administration wisely. That's all I'm saying. For one, there should not be a place specifically called a "prison" to hold these persons whom many seem to try to imagine as being not human beings and they should not be treated so ugly as to be subjected as full families, as violent criminals and thrown in camps like jail or places where hoarded animals are kept for slaughter, in the given name of the Greatest Country in the World. We have to be better than all of this. Why doesn't Government in particular, ever learn from the past. Where is the humanity. The future's uncertain and the end is always near. America's prison system is fundamentally flawed, and we are more focused on Incarceration than Rehabilitation and Reform, which is a larger goal of punishment tbh 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

I'm out y'all False. They're paid per prisoner in most states. And private prison companies don't make enough money to influence policy that much. This company in question is the second largest private prison company in the world and they only make $70 million a year brah Just because they're incorporated doesn't make them evil Stop fear mongering lmao it's sad Spoiler Wendy's Inc. makes $130 million a year. By you're logic Wendy's as almost twice as much influence over government policy. So f*cking funny mate.

Now they'll have beds. Chill out. Don't let yourself be tricked dude c'mon...
