I love 'Joanne', I feel like it's a great album. It's not better than 'The Fame Monster' or 'Born this Way' but it's certainly better than 'ARTPOP' and close to or better than 'The Fame'.

The only issue I have with it is that it never reaches the highs of her previous albums. On all her other albums there are at least 3 "amazing" 10/10 tracks. I feel like Joanne doesn't have any of those but it's more consistent with it's quality. The only song I really hate is "Grigio Girls". :saladga:

We all love Gaga here, so some of us defended Joanne in the process of indirectly defending Gaga, even though we may not have been fully enchanted. There are some legitimate gems on Joanne (especially the title track), to be sure. But there are also cringeworthy moments when it seems almost like she is actively TRYING to drive radio away from her music. Avoiding the use of pitch-correction software is just a dumb idea. Radio isn't going to play songs that make some people change to another station, and that is what under-produced songs do. The #1 rule of radio is: DO NO HARM.

Personally, I think "The Cure" sounds like Gaga lyrics slapped onto a recent Bieber track. But, I still want it to succeed because I want Gaga to succeed. Do I prefer Gaga at the cutting edge of the pop world? Sure. Eventually. But right now, I just want her to have a safe, easy hit that can take advantage of all of her media goodwill at the moment and re-ingratiate her with radio programmers.

I love both Joanne and The Cure. That being said, Gaga seemed happier performing The Cure over A-YO or John Wayne. She basically paid Joanne complete dust at Coachella, and I think that says something for as personal of an album that she said it was.

Where this fanbase is right now, we want her to have a hit. We wanna hear this song be played as much as Closer, and we think that this song is it. It's a radio friendly hit, and that's we are all so excited. I don't think that everyone suddenly hates Joanne at all, I just think we are rash about saying "OH MY GOD THIS IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING SHE'S DONE BEFORE BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE MORE SUCCESSFUL"

I never cared for Joanne.... I loved her pervious work far more than Joanne ? Is that bad ?

No. You have a right to your tastes. You don't have to gush over literally everything Gaga puts out in order to be a huge fan. If you do, then you aren't being genuine, and that's just dumb.

With that in mind, you can still act strategically in terms of how you talk about Gaga's current projects in order to maximize her chances of success.

I disagree. I LOVED pretty much every single album cut and single off of The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way (incidentally, the title track was only eh for me), AND ARTPOP (although that album had to grow on me for a while first). Honestly, I think it was just the rollout of ARTPOP that was botched, with all of the drama and the loss of control over the narrative.

Cheek to Cheek was not really my genre, & some detail about the way Gaga forms her words when she sings jazz always annoyed me.

Joanne has a few gems (LOVE the title track), but it also has a lot of stuff that is just sonically difficult to listen to comfortably. I can't imagine releasing an album for a major pop star without first bringing in some lay people to focus-group test it, but I think that is what they did (or do?). Sure, it will click with some people, particularly those of us who already like Gaga enough to let it grow on us. But Joanne was never made for radio, and it shows in the chart performance.

I don't know if Gaga realized that she was putting out music that radio couldn't play, but it seems like she either has had her eyes opened somewhat or just changed her mind about wanting radio to play her music.

The Cure isn't the best solution -- it seems like perhaps too blatant an attempt to put out something radio can stomach -- but hopefully it will be enough that radio CAN in fact stomach it, if they decide that they want to play Gaga music...

Stop making it a debate between the cure or continuing with Joanne lol guysssss come on  ! Both are good it's just different sides of her. And ppl crying sellout need to chill. She can't please anyone. She's either too non mainstream or too mainstream. But in reality she's just every icon and a chameleon in music. Byeeee

The Cure is a fantastic song. Gaga has always been apart of mainstream pop. The Cure is not generic however, the song features well thought-out, amazingly cute lyrics with unique lullaby-like verses with a euphoric chorus. It reminds me of Eh-Eh/Nothing Else I Can Say, kinda.

I disagree with people comparing her to Chainsmokers or think some fans are hypocrites. The Cure song is more like "Hold My Hand" by Jesse Glynne - both songs feel real and have emotion in it. That is the key difference.

Chainsmokers' songs are made with no substance, no authentic message. Their songs are bulit like equations, they all have the same archetype: how to get the best reaction out of the radio. They don't actually care about what they put out. I love EDM but **** like Chainsmokers is just shallow ****. All because they have catchy music doesn't mean it is noteworthy. By that I mean see how long you will be listening to "Paris" and "Closer". I embrace DJs that see EDM for what is it: euphoric dance music, like Markus Schulz, Armin, Above & Beyond, Ilan Bluestone etc. Not the pretentious Chainsmokers who pay some uncredited randoms to throw together and sing some relatable love lyrics, **** about cars and tattoos wow:firega:with a big drop. That is their shtick.

Lady Gaga's shtick is inspiring fans with music and spreading good vibes and love through her DIVERSE music. Whether is be Pop, Jazz, Rock, Country, or OTHER. :classy:

You could tell how she felt about the song just the way she introduced it and danced & smiled to it. She puts 100% in, always.

She is not a sellout.

I've never cared about Joanne (except everything mainstream on it, yeah I'm this way) but now I can finally admitt it and say I was born this way.

True story... I'm an older guy, recently retired so, my take on Gaga and, her music probably wouldn't seem relevant to the Millennial crowd and, media... Sadly, because of my own stubbornness, I missed most of her early music career... Seeing her pop up in the media all the time with her strange fashion style, glitz, and, glamour I just ignored her music thinking she was just another trendy pop star, flash in the pan, wouldn't last, etc etc... I hated pop music I heard on the radio and, just figured it was all the same... I could not, have been more wrong...

About a year and, a half ago, a friend asked me to watch a music video of hers on YouTube where she sang a tribute to the music of Julie Andrews singing in the movie, The Sound of Music... Shock and awe... She was an actual singer with almost unbelievable vocal talents... Yes, I slapped myself and, immediately became a big fan of hers... Since then, I've dug into her music, career, life, fashion, family, and philosophical self as much as YouTube and, other sources would reveal... I went back and, listened to all her early music, songs, events, and appearances on talk shows, tribute events, everything I could find... I've joined her Born This Way Foundation and, contributed to it as well...

In a shorter time span than most who've been watching her since she emerged on the scene, I've watched her grow up and, mature in all ways; music, songwriting, fashion, art, style, and much much more... What a trip it's been for an old guy... I'm a big fan now... Maybe not a little monster, per se, more of a crusty but, not rusty fan... I'm also a long time guitarist myself, so just for something to do, I've even taken to ghost writing some songs for her in my now, spare time...

I love Joanne... Bought Perfect Illusion when it hit iTunes and, Joanne as well when it hit the racks; streaming and, hard copy CD... I love "The Cure"; bought it too... One thing I'm sure of, if you're expecting her to do something, she'll likely surprise you with something you never saw coming; in a good way... Can't wait for her new movie, "A Star is Born" and, hope Bradley Cooper gives her a good enough, quality movie platform to shine her way to the big stage at the Oscars... I love everything about this amazing woman and, hope she takes enough time off, out of the spotlights as she gets older to keep her heart and, mind straight and, not lose her edge... She earned and, well deserves her huge fan base and, a long, prosperous career in music and, hopefully films as well...

I am eternally grateful, Stephani came along in my lifetime; that I was so fortunate to have been here and, known such an amazing woman... Gaga Rulez All... An Crusty Monster

Fixed.

I still love Joanne, if not even more now and I'll keep on loving/defending it despite all the people saying "The Cure < the entirety of Joanne" which is beyond imbecile.

Joanne is an amazing album.
Gaga took her broken heart and pain and made it into art once again.
Joanne might not be her most authentic work in terms of "gaga" but it's her most authentic work in terms of being human with emotions. It's raw and unpolished, yet perfect in its own magical way.
