OH PLEASE :ladyhaha:

They were so not trying to spread a message of unity, they were trying to make a quick buck off the social and political tension going on in the world rn, and got called out for it :ladyhaha:

Kendall Jenner was just the nail on the coffin for the whole mess :ladyhaha:

First Pepsi sponsoring our up and coming country star Joanne's SBHTS, now this.

A million reasons for the conservatives to buy Pepsi. :emma:

Spoiler

Pepsi is really wrong this time. They depreciated the idea of protest.:grr:

That's great of them to apologize and to remove any content from that.

People felt like Pepsi was trying to profit off unrest, which is tied to very serious issues like police brutality, nationalism, minority rights, etc. They tried to create iconic imagery from violent protests, yet sugarcoated the whole thing as 'join the conversation'. Having a model who we all know got to where she is because of her name and family deliver a Pepsi and 'solve' the unrest is just the nail in the coffin.

When it comes to serious political issues in advertising, you either need to fully commit or leave it alone. They tried to portray a protest about 'nothing in particular' which is solved by a skinny, light skinned supermodel delivering a Pepsi to a cop, reminiscent of the Baton Rouge protest image, as some inspiring message. It isn't. This is one theme that you can't tip-toe around, so making an advert from it is not the easiest or smartest thing to do and Pepsi learned that the hard way (and I'm surprised they even let it be released or made).

To all GGDers on this thread (and the previous one) who don't see the glaringly obvious problems with this ad: Check your own ignorance and then try commenting again.

The ad is not only embarrassing - it's insulting.

All I got from the ad was that they were using a celebrity to try and spread a message about unity, bringing people together.

I mean it's pretty obvious what doesn't work in the promo

the intention was good but the execution made the whole promo and campaign look like a SNL skit:tea:

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

The whole thing was a mess. I'm glad they took it down. Social justice isn't granted, it's fought for.
