(1) She's more r'n'b this time

(2) the production has some typical dance numbers but a lot of mid tempo drake/clams casino esque beats.

Neither of which qualities were all that present on her previous two albums...

 1) The last album had quite a few rnb tracks.

2) I didn't really hear these other than like 2 tracks.

Riri, time to FULLY UPDATE your sound.

Love Without Tragedy and Numb

The last album was either hip/hop or pop. The only song I suppose could be considered rnb was maybe drunk on love, maybe.

1) That's it?.. Not to mention Numb is like Cockiness (Love It) 2.0

2) Did you forget Talk That Talk, Roc Me Out, and basically the last few tracks on TTT?

Ew okay first of all Cockiness is nothing like Numb.

Secondly Talk That Talk, Roc Me Out, and Farewell are not rnb. Maybe Drunk On Love could be considered but the xx sample makes it more pop than rnb. We All Want Love is like a mid tempo pop ballad.

 For you probably.

And tell how are Talk That Talk, Roc Me Out, and Farewell not rnb? Cuz Jay-Z was featured in TTT? :giggle:

Talk That Talk is so hip/hop obviously as is Roc Me Out. BOTH of which were like Rude Boy wannabes. Farewell is like a Rated R esque rock inspired pop ballad.

Numb and Cockiness both contain intense repetition but sonically they give off completely different vibes.

tbh most the tracks sound really rushed and uninspired but I'll wait till I get to hear the full versions. I really liked Lost in Paradise and Right Now though.

And Jump, aside from the dubstep used in the chorus. AND Pour It Up.

 TTT is both Hip&Hop and R&B and it sounds nothing like RB. RMO and RB are both R&B just so you know.

Production-wise, Cockiness is a bit more stripped down compared to Numb but you just basically said it... Same freaking structure. and not only that, both songs also feature strong background harmonies.

 That's just how I feel about the snippet in general coming from a producer's perspective. I'm still getting the album but I just kind of start to feel.. tired as a listener... There just wasn't much progress in her last 3 albums. Nothing like the change I saw from GGGB to RR or even from RR to Loud.

Loud is probably one of her most shallow and uninspired albums yet for some reason because of its commercial success people view it as her best era. I seem to remember a majority of people being disappointed in her with Loud upon first listen. I'm assuming most of the hate derives from the fact that she churns out albums so quickly, people focus on that and it distracts them from recognizing that the music isn't even that low quality if you judge it for what it is because the thing is that Rihanna is like the urban Britney Spears. They make pop fluff and they make it well. She's not out to create a Ray of Light record because she never will.

The thing about Britney is that she actually progresses. I see a change in her style in almost every album.

Progress? What Progress? Club record after club record revolving around ****ing someone? Blackout and Femme Fatale are probably the only standout records in terms of sound progression but the rest all sound the same...

You want to the difference? Blackout is a lot more underground and not as radio-friendly as FF, and it's also a bit more R&B-oriented. I hear nothing like Toy Soldier and Piece of Me on Femme Fatale.
