For some people, deductibles and premiums went up under Obamacare. (Although, in all fairness to Obamacare, they were going up faster before it was passed) and in some states it has hurt competition (it should be noted that this wouldn't be a problem if the public option had been passed under Obamacare). So some people feel Obamacare has hurt them, even tho it's not necessarily Obamacare's fault. What we should do now, in the progressive view, to fix these problems would be to begin a Medicare for all single payer program.

Well its cuz if the people who have to pay more and some have the opinion that the cost on businesses and higher premiums for some to fund the program and its impact on the economy isnt worth it The perspective i guess depends on who you are and whether your a beneficiary or someone who looses out

My Country has it and ive always been able to depend on it without worrying about costs (unless its private segments of healthcare like dental, vision care or prescription meds) Also the way the US media portrays Canadian and Free healthcare is not at all reflective of what actually goes on and Americans dont have a proper view of what its really like

Obamacare is great for people who get subsidies and who live in states that adopted the Medicaid expansion. For couples, especially families, who make a good living it can be expensive...especially in certain states where premiums are going up. To counter these rising premiums, these people have gone with plans that have high deductibles and less coverage up front.

I'm actually very in favor of transferring America over to a similiar system. Except under Bernie's plan stuff like dental and vision would also be covered. But America spends far more on healthcare then Canada does, so it'd make sense to do that.

Bernie's plan that puts the burden on states, which means that kids go hungry so someone can have dental care. It doesn't work! The money has to come from somewhere. You are believing in a Trump- like promise. The only was the US gets Medicare for all (plus this magical dental and vision plan) is to double the input coming from the US budget. Where would you like to pull this twenty to twenty five per cent from?

In a private health system there needs to be a margin for profit of hospitals and then another margin for profit for health insurance on top of that We have insurance too but because its only for dental, vision and prescription the premiums are low and its not a huge business But yeah. We get all care we need and its perfectly reliable... Some conservatives in US media like to cite isolated incidents of bad backlogs in some rural areas that led to deaths of people waiting too long, or mistakes from rushing that resulted in something bad... Those incidents dont accurately reflect what the healthcare is like as a whole in the entire Nation. Theres 35 Million people and many different regions. Of course there will be horror stories to tell, but its misleading to the public to make it sound like those bad stories are the norm I and everyone I know have always been able to rely on the system just fine. Just emphasizing that many bad stories in US media about our system are exagerated and biased. Or sometimes the stories are true but again, they dont always reflect the system as a whole non serious medical issues for some things can often take longer than it would in the US tho. Not saying it doesnt. If u go to the ER with just a headache and are not a priority patient on triad with nothing serious, sometimes u may wait a few hours. Because his plan was estimated to cost 1.38 trillion dollars and he broke down all the taxes he was gonna use to pay for it. The studies, published jointly by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center and the Urban Institute in Washington, conclude that Sanders's plans are short a total of more than $18 trillion over a decade. His programs would cost the federal government about $33 trillion over that period, almost all of which would go toward Sanders's proposed system of national health insurance. Yet the Democratic presidential candidate has put forward just $15 trillion in new taxes, the authors concluded. In principle, national health insurance could make many families better off overall, without imposing unsustainable burdens on the federal budget. For the system to work in terms of dollars and cents, though, the benefits would have to be less generous than they are in the system Sanders has proposed, or the taxes would have to be more onerous for the middle class, as they are in many European countries. Also, Sanders implies everything will be covered because he knows how important that question is to people. But everything won't be covered. So who decides, how do they decide, what gets covered, and what doesn't? Without knowing that, it's impossible to say whether a particular single-payer system is a good idea or a really, really bad one. How do you guarantee physical access to medical care? Right now hospitals charge Medicaid one price, Medicare a somewhat higher price, and private insurers an even higher price. If the entire system is squeezed down to Medicare pricing, a lot of hospitals are going to close. How will Sanders keep that from happening? Or will he let it happen, even if it means people in rural areas need to drive hours for care? Like I stated before, it is a complex system, especially for 340 million people...many who are used to a certain standard of care and will demand the same...and many who are undocumented or at poverty level. You do know that many Presidents have proposed variations of this and tried to get something done on this issue, with public support. It's going to be a decades long process, not easy or simplistic like Bernie proposes.

Yeah, I know ur healthcare system is smeared because the lobbyists in America hate it. To be sure tho i dont wanna sugar coat it. Theres downsides to everything... Some things are indeed slower than in the US. Not everything. Most people can see family doctors quickly and most basic tests are fast also. Many day surgeries are also quick. Some types of surgeries and specialists do have backlogs and sometimes you have to wait a few weeks. In some cases months for surgeries. It depends what it is. My dad had a small hernia for example and he had to wait 10 weeks to do surgery because there was nothing life threatning about it and other patients had more serious needs. Again the ER in hospitals sometimes are a bit crowded and they have to prioritize. You wont always be seen right away if what you have is not serious. But anything serious and you always get put on priority and get treatment quickly. Like my brother for example who just got a heart attack from virus. His treatment was obviously instant My point is non serious stuff sometimes has a bit of a wait. But I think its worth the trade off of not worrying about expenses and whether or not your going to be covered for treatment. Health is not something we generally really ever worry about
