@Gaga Monster has a point. Whilst PI is a bop and it's really good, it's not radio friendly. Many people I know, bar 3-4 people, say that PI just isn't good for radio. It probably was the worst choice for lead single.

Ik there are the people that are against DIC being a single, but it would've been smart to release that as the lead seeing as the style of music is very similar to what was popular in summer/September time.

isn't it a bit too late though?

Not quite. She could still collab with the current hot acts and use them to further her own name recognition amongst the younger generation

Millions of people listening to a song multiple times should tell you the song is popular, not hundreds of thousands of people who decide "hey, I liked 20 new songs this month but I'm not willing to cough up $25 for all of them so that means I don't actually like them".

You know how when someone buys an album and plays it a thousand times it only ever counts as one sale? While someone not willing to pay streams a song a million times and it's suddenly more than the actual purchase?

But of course part of me hates it because of Gaga's weak streaming. I'm never fully against streaming. Just the formula.

Rock, experimental, not GP/Radio friendly at all, too much guitar, weak/short verses, low callout scores on radio because the GP did not like it

How does streaming kill anything? It's more accurate of a scale regarding a song's popularity than anything. I've liked tons of songs I wouldn't spend money on but I would stream them. Millions of people listening to a song multiple times should tell you the song is popular, not hundreds of thousands of people who decide "hey, I liked 20 new songs this month but I'm not willing to cough up $25 for all of them so that means I don't actually like them". Only stans are upset about this, because they judge true artist popularity by loyalty and worship through cash spending

Streaming slows down the charts

Well it is

Screaming vocals are not the tea in the age when most radio songs have a soft sound

Well the GP hated it, it got the lowest call out scores for the week and dropped like a rock on iTunes & Radio. Guitars, rock, and repetition of It Wasn't Love over and over will never be successful. And the screaming did not help

Streaming is geared towards single hit songs I feel, not overall albums with a cohesive story and meaning to them. As evidenced by what are 'hits' on streaming, they're all SO BASIC and half sound the same.

Well, this is stupid, but also a result of our futile society.

I also believe that an artist with talent and integrity like Gaga won't depend on this kind of strategies to become a legend, which I doubt this Spotify idols will become.

The real question here is: How much did the artists get?

Ed Sheeran and Drake's album tracks charted simply because of streaming

Drake and Ed Sheeran's entire album got huge streaming numbers though

Did you not see how all of Ed's songs (even album tracks) debuted high on all official charts because everyone listened to them and he racked up tons of streaming points?

Anyone can stream a song because it's popular but that doesn't define the artist legacy.

MTE. If streaming is the future, then we're in for a lot more mediocre crap.
