Gaga Will Be At Least Top 5 Female Artist of 2017

Billboard keeps track of the top artists each week based on albums, singles and social media engagement. At the end of the year Billboard makes a year-end list of top artists of the year based on that list and then adds in touring.

Right now we are 4 months into the Billboard year of 2017 (starts mid-November 2016). And it seems that Gaga is doing very well on the chart and has picked up steam following the Superbowl. Gaga will also have 3 and a half months of touring to add into that equation by year end. And as we all know her tickets are pricey, so she stands to rack up a lot of points from that.

Here's Gaga's placement on the Top female artist chart since the start of the Billboard year:

1st Week: #9
2nd Week: #7
3rd Week: #6
4th Week: #4
5th Week: #8
6th Week: #9
7th Week: #10
8th Week: #14
9th Week: #11
10th Week: #13
11th Week: #10
12th Week: #11
13th Week: #1
14th Week: #2
15th Week: #3
16th Week: #3
17th Week: #3

I predict that Gaga will continue to chart between #2 and #4 for a while. As Adele's "Water Under the Bridge" falls off the chart and MR climbs.

The clear top 3 artists of the 2017 year so far are Adele, Rihanna and Ariana Grande.

But Adele and Ariana's era are winding down. "Everyday" seems to be on a trend to not make it too high on the Hot 100. (its not high on iTunes, even with a discount, and isn't having a fast increase on radio, and the video isn't getting views like Side to Side did). Gaga seems to just be getting started.

And then there's Lorde and Katy. Two girls that aren't having the success they had with their last two lead singles. Can their eras hold a candle to Joanne? I think Katy's might, but idk about Lorde. And will they tour this year? Touring can be a big help, as it helps Beyonce in years that she doesn't even release albums.

And before ending this I want to point out that Alessia Cara has also done well so far this year. Pretty much charting in the #4 and #5 spots consistently. The release of the new single "Stay" with Zedd could help her continue to rack up points and maybe she'll release another song from her album, or go into a new era.

It's still early, but this could be Gaga's biggest year as a female artist since 2011.

This is how she's charted each year on the year end female artist charts

2009: #3

2010: #1

2011: #4 (big year for females)

2012: #8

2013: #7

2014: #9

2015: #23

2016: #20
