Absolutely huge. It's going to hit 200 MILLION LISTENERS every single week. Adele stable thanks to her special, but it surprisingly did nothing for her really on iTunes and her singles are back in the red. She'll be back on the fall in the next 48 hours. Nicki Minaj also peaking/beginning her fall. Boyfriend rebounding from radio rejecting his second single, and playing that instead. Wide Awake, Titanium, Scream, Where Have You Been are all on the upswing. Ellie Goulding is enjoying a quiet radio hit state-side. Pitbull beginning to get radio support after digital backing. Ozzy8923 9
Katy's ****ing off after this single, so while it's depressing that it's doing so well, remember...there's a light at the end of the tunnel A tunnel that took 2 YEARS to get out from. Can you believe it? It's been 2 CONSECUTIVE years of CONSTANT Katy Perry on the radio. God, I always liked her but I've hated her ever since maybe Firework being EXTREMELY overplayed in early 2011 and then E.T. took that to a whole other level. LFN wasn't so bad, I liked the video and the song and it didn't really annoy me, neither did TOTGA, but POM did a bit and WA probably will make me want to set my car on fire and kill myself when it comes on. Americano 31,061
Wide Awake is Katy Perry's first hit ballad, showing her increased flexibility even if she tends to be rather stagnant sound wise. We'll see how that continues with her next record.

Man I can't stand LFN It's Ke$ha mixed with bad 80's pop. No thanks... I used to be a fan of Katy, but I took a turn when she and her label started to use these tactics for getting #1's. Her success is great, but not fully genuine. There is no excitement being a fan of hers... Oh another #1 *half clap*. Oh she didn't get another #1? Okay I'll wait until they discount the song to .69 cents. Her music is just for extremely casual listeners... Fans want some sort of depth to a star. She has none. Very sound a--lysis. The only single I still like among the upswing songs is Scream, but I doubt it will do as well as the others.
Americano 31,061
So boring, we never get news from Gaga anymore.
jhonyguy04 3
Lady Gaga is bigger worldwide than anyone else, but she's definitely losing traction in her most important country (the US.) Y&I did well here, but Judas + MTN tanked hard and really did nothing for album sales in the long run. Gaga's decline on Youtube as well is more US-centric, because outside of America music video television is still popular. (And Lady Gaga's videos consistently get good airplay because she's the biggest US star in most countries.) She still had strong album sales overall, and hopefully will return strong with her next single. She's also bigger than anyone else IN the US touring wise, pop-wise. Yes, Gaga needs to get back to the US and start kicking ass. Ignore the rest of the flop world. If she is popular in the US, by default she probably be popular around the world anyways, cause the world eats up anything American. And don't have flopped produced songs like Hair, Teeth, and Americano. No flop Madonnaesque or Whitney Houstenesque bonus songs that no one cares about. And she needs to stop bragging cause thats a turn off. And she needs to keep up her pretty look. She started looking weird in the Alejandro video. And no more Madonnaesque religious imagery please. Have more fun, and don't be so serious. She got too serious in this damn era. What happen to fun songs like LoveGame and Telephone?? Not everything has to be deep. If she wants to continue being a successful pop star, she has to do these things. We are currently the 3rd/4th place in female pop star popularity, behind Katy and Adele, and possibly Riahnna. boysboysboys 278
I'm still reeling from the fact that despite so many people displeased with her BBMA's performance, radio chose to pimp out this single.

I don't know about that. Lady Gaga is still definitely the biggest superstar currently. She does need to focus abroad, being big in the US doesn't mean your big outside of America. Katy Perry is actually fairly local, Wide Awake and PoM aren't doing very well abroad. Taylor Swift isn't massive outside the US either. (She's not local, but not huge) A majority of Katy's album sales are within the US. Lady Gaga's the opposite, a big majority is outside of the US. boysboysboys 278
If she wants to continue being a successful pop star, she has to do these things. Does she? I hope the key to future success will be less conventional than what you describe.
Americano 31,061
Lady Gaga is the most global superstar, in the Madonna/Michael Jackson sense, that the world has seen in years. It's very rare to achieve the level of fame she has. That's from her hard work promoting outside the country. With that comes the cost of a little less success at home, because she doesn't have as much time to be here. (Like, for example right now she's touring in Australia/etc. while the US is left without tour dates)
boysboysboys 278
Anyway, what scares me is that Interscope has traded marketing Gaga's songs for marketing Gaga herself. The key media that should be conquered (music TV, music internet and radio) aren't. Gaga needs sonical strength.
boysboysboys 278
Sometimes I think Interscope is full of dumb chickensh*t. They aren't fighting hard enough like Def Jam and Capitol are for Rihanna and Katy, respectively. Or if they are, they're pulling at all the wrong strings and making weak/foolish plans.
