While it's growing, her presence on radio is minimal and her videos have, aside from JW, not been what many are used to seeing from Gaga. Despite the Super Bowl, VSFS, people expect to hear Gaga on the radio and see crazy performances from her. If she doesn't deliver that she's a flop to them, and even if she does like she did for ARTPOP she's a flop. I'm sure that's why she's gotten to the point where she doesn't care. Even with little promotion (besides SB) she's doing quite well. They (media, pop forum stans) don't see her as an artist, so she's not really allowed the benefit of the doubt, like say someone like Beck or Kanye who had big commercial peaks, but were allowed to not be thought of as huge decaying flops for following their muse and making albums that are comparatively less commercially successful to their peaks. Even Nicki Minaj is allowed this kind of breathing room. Sometimes I really feel like the whole vapid stan culture of pop music - which has completely infiltrated music journalism - has really done a disservice to her and other artists.
