You know what, out of all the people I've seen, some of the biggest artists in the world, I don't think I've ever been as elated as I was by Sophie Ellis Bextor last night.

Her set expertly transitioned from genre to genre starting with her more recent folky pop songs and ending with some of her biggest dance songs. Including an acoustic section with fan requests from Twitter!

This woman has gone from being a label artist with all the stresses, pressures and expectations that come with that; and is now releasing her own music independently through her own record label, creating music she wants to make, still sees chart success and is currently on a sold out tour.

So yes, the Drake's and the Katy Perry's of this world may have more money, more resources, more fans - but does that make them better? A bunch of pretty airheads who don't write their own music? I honestly think Sophie Ellis Bextor is the bigger success story here. She escaped the music industry and lived to tell the tale.

Her new album Familia is great by the way > https://itun.es/gb/gnmSfb

She's one of the best. Make a Scene, the album is one of my favorite works of her.

I still wish she collabed with Kylie Minogue or Gaga, they'd do wonders but oh well :green:

Love ha

The only reason I know her is because my sister was a tween in 2001 and blasted Sophie's music in the house, and my 6 year old ears happened to pick it up  :madge:

I sadly only know her as the last person to turn down Can't Get You Outta My Head before Queen Kylie took it and made it a worldwide smash...

I think it's so lame to put other artists down just to elevate another. The two artists you named happen to write their own songs but you reduced them to "pretty airheads". Disrespectful and uncalled for.

Glad you had a nice time

She's had some great dance songs and worked with the Freemasons, Armin Van Buuren etc

And when you say my name, like white horses on the waves, I think it feels the same, as an ocean in my veins.
