The thread is about US marijuana policy, but you made specific reference about me ignoring the fact that black and latino people being racially discriminated because of their drug use/dealing, which isn't the case in my country as most of them are white. Learn to listen I can't believe people are this........ just... like this Cannabis was made illegal in the UK because of racist roots to "Indian Hemp". And you're also talking about a country that shipped billions of (today's) dollars worth of HEROIN into China for 100 years. Not the best country to take the lead of drug policy... Radio Ga Ga 5,671
@Saint Laurent I'm gonna have to call you out for this: Your main argument was successfully debunked with hard evidence and facts by what this said: 27 minutes ago, MJHolland said: Oh my god. You clearly have demonstrated an total lack of knowledge about this. In states like Colorado where weed is legalized, the price of weed is WAAAAYYYYYY lower that an states where is it still illegal. There is no way a drug dealer, who is taking on a risk premium, can compete with legalized head shops and dispensaries. The legalization of weed in Colorado and other states has shown a complete elimination of the black market (where the crimes you're so worried about HAPPEN!). PLUS there is ACTUAL EVIDENCE (which you have neglected to supply any of your own!) that shows to use of HEROIN and other opioids does DOWN. If you are against crime and addiction to dangerous drugs, you should be in favor of legalized cannabis! Period! So you just ignored what MJHolland said, and went on to make petty comments about "not breaking the law" Well, excuse me, the question here is whether we should legalize weed, and your argument for not legalizing weed is that because weed is illegal, it should be illegal If you think you're logical, please check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_reasoning If you lost the argument, just admit it, until you have sufficient reasoning/evidences for a counter-argument. Reading those comments of yours just made my head hurt sooo much And thank you @MJHolland for speaking the truth. Preach it sis!!

I'm countering his argument that the only reason marijuana is illegal is racism You cannot ignore the fact that racism contributed significantly to the criminalization of cannabis in the United States of America. You just cannot ignore that. Nor can you ignore that the law is set up to disproportionately affect low-income and minority populations int the US. However, I would still find it more preferable to achieve this while drugs are still illegal. @Radio Ga Ga
Morphine Prince 109,683
Cannabis first became illegal in the UK, and most of the rest of the world, on 28th September 1928 when the 1925 Dangerous Drugs Act came into force. There were no British domestic reasons, no lobbying for or against prohibition, and no Parliamentary debates. The Act controlling 'Indian Hemp and all resins and preparations based thereon' had been passed after Britain signed the 1925 Geneva International Convention on Narcotics Control, organised by the League of Nations. And for 3 more pages, neither you nor anyone in this thread has actually linked to evidence that suggests the legalization and decriminalization of cannabis is harmful to the US population. Whereas I, including multiple other members, have quoted, referenced, and cited multiple pieces of evidence and research that strongly suggest that the decriminalization and legalization of cannabis has positively impacted populations where it is legal inside the United States. Class dismissed.
