This forum already has a weird fetish with incest, so I don't expect this discussion to go any better.

Honestly, what the ****, people.

let me refrain myself :poordat:

Milo has made a litany of remarks which are legitimately outrageous (his claims about Trans individuals for example), but it is these remarks will sink his career. Not because I think they are offensive, but because when it comes to sex the American public is puritanical, ignorant, and reactionary.

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

Donald Trump admitted to sexual assault, said he was sexually attracted to his daughter, and pointed at a child calling her "his future wife." Yet publishers have no problem publishing his book, and the American public had no problem electing him. Similarly, not only did Lena Dunham's publishers not have a problem with her having a nuanced stance on child molestation, they actually published her account of "molesting" her sister in a book which is arguably one of the most celebrated contemporary works by a feminist author. So the public seems to hold different standards for different individuals.

Side note, Jeffery and Cole Casserole was such a good show.

I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009

I actually feel like this is an instance of us kind of running with the wind and some context lacking, but I haven't seen "all" of the videos/soundbytes yet, so maybe I just haven't heard the super damning things yet. Like, from what I've seen so far (just one sound clip), he was romanticizing same sex molestation, as well as arguing that consent is too emphasized for adults, which IS ****ed up... That being said, we as a society in general are selectively lax with ephebophilia, and I think he was saying that we should be consistent with that.  (So 25 year olds should be able to **** 15 year olds for example)

That being said. REALLY CONSERVATIVES? :grr:

THIS is what gets you upset enough to want you to drop his ass? :smh: I'm not talking to individuals, but it is those people that are stereotypically thought of as doing these things, is it not? :air:

It's just like when Conservatives only started to even remotely dislike Trump when he insulted that dead soldier and his family, not when he advocated for violence and was racist/sexist, sexually assaulted a woman, mocked a disabled person, or did a slew of other worse things :smh:

At the end of the day, I don't think "I support pedophilia" is an accurate representation of what Milo's saying, even if what he is saying is still wildly problematic, so they aren't even getting him on his more blatantly ignorant offensive and damaging things :laughga:

So you think this thread shouldn't have been created in the first place, because Milo's comments themselves are also alt-right BS?

While I'm far from your biggest fan Goosey, I can't help but take your side on this one.

A lot of Milo's comments disgust me and clearly he's far from a saint, but this twisting around his words is just as disgusting as his comments. There's no need to stoop down to his level.

I really don't understand liberal media sometimes. While conservatives aren't any better with alternative facts, at least you can immediately point out their claims are false. In the case of liberal media, everything from headlines to quotes are taken so out of context it scares me how powerful they've become.

I remember fearing a 1984-esque dystopia after Trump's election with its totalitarian themes. But everything from 2+2=4, to rewriting news articles, to the careful control language somehow reminds me so much of liberal media like I'm genuinely shaking right now.

He's said worse things. Relationships between young and old men with education as purpose (which is literally what he was talking about) were very normal for the ancient Greeks. Plato did it. He didn't defend pedosexuality, and in many countries the legal age of consent is lower than 16. The fact that he was molested by a priest also explains his behaviour. Duterte teas.

I'm glad his career is over. His comments on feminism, transgenders and the like are much worse.

Basically this. He generalizes people, which for a person who has the right of a private life and is not an advocate is okay, but for someone who has the public's attention to use the generalization he does as if it were the whole truth. It's messy.

He calls trans people, "mentally ill" similar to what gay people were once called, and still are today by some. He says gay people do too many drugs and can't manage to hold jobs because they never show up on time and aren't responsible, and uses his position as a gay man to somehow make this generalization true. The danger isn't responsibility, the danger is having it and thinking that you don't to the point of saying whatever pops into your head as the even small masses flock to your words.

This was a stupid point to catch him over, any of his other views are miles more harmful than this, which is an opinion taken beyond what I think his meaning of it is. BUT, right now? Don't **** with Jake Tapper, everyone knows that. :lolly:

I wonder what this says about them tbh :emma: Like, does pedophilia hit home or something? (Not that I find pedophilia to be objectively evil or immoral or anything in the first place :gum: )
