So basically, I listened to Starboy a few days after it was released and I was floored. It's an amazing album full of bops and  I don't think there's a single bad song on it (although Sidewalks is my least favorite, fight me :usrs:). Since I was so pleasently surprised, I went ahead and listened to his other albums and I have to say I think his whole discography is flawless. Every single album he released is amazing. My least favorite is Beauty Behind The Madness, and even that album is incredible. The Weeknd quickly became my 2nd favorite artist (after Gaga of course).

To come back to the topic at hand, in the first year of his career, The Weeknd released three critically acclaimed mixtapes that later went on to be put together and become "Trilogy". It quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time, if not my favorite (along with Ultraviolence).

The first part, House of Balloons, features amazing songs, but some of them drag on for two long in my opinion, especially in the second half of the mixtape (the first half of Loft Music is fire, but the second half is pretty uneventful and forgettable, and the "After Party" part of The Party & The After Party could've been cut off altogether). These last few song are still very good and enjoyable. My favorite is House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls, while my least favorite is The Knowing. It's my 2nd favorite part of the Trilogy.

The first five songs of the second part, Thursday, are five of the best songs I've ever heard. They're all so different from each other and yet they all feel connected. However, the second half of the album is, again, somewhat uneventful (although the first part of Gone is very good), but it is still quality music and I don't skip any song. My favorite is The Zone and my least favorite is probably Valerie. It's my least favorite part of the Trilogy, but it is still a jaw-dropping mixtape.

Then we have Echoes of Silence, the third and last part. It's a freaking dark and depressing mixtape and I love every second of it. It's easily my favorite part of the Trilogy. Even the longer cuts, like XO / The Host, never get boring and don't feel too long. Every single song here is a goddamn masterpiece. My least favorite is Same Old Song, and even that one is extremely enjoyable. My favorite on Echoes of Silence and the Trilogy in general is The Fall, it has such an oppressing and menacing feel to it and the instrumental feels so distorted, it's just an amazing track. I also LOVE Initiation, it sounds so f***ed up and original with all the effects on Abel's voice and the freaking dark instrumental. The more emotional moments of the mixtape like Next and Echoes of Silence also work wonderfully and Till Dawn (Here Comes The Sun) is the perfect closer to the whole project.

What are you guys' opinions on this wonderful body of work?

Morphine Prince

House of Balloons.

I started listening to him in late 2012. That mixtape changed everything tbh.

Kiss Land is my least favorite album from him.

I never downloaded his mixtapes when they were free for some reason and now I feel like I should buy Trilogy. It's $19 though lol.

I own BBTM and Starboy.
