My version of the Joanne World Tour

So, this is how I would do the tour in an ideal, budget-free world. I have been watching some Janet Jackson and Tina Turner tours from the 80's/90's and have to say, those were the days when the staging etc was just out of this world. They really brought it with the drama. I mocked up a quick lil' Bird's Eye View silhouette of the stage:

But that's not all. At part/s of the show, the upper catwalk's top section lifts and is a huge arm, lifting Gaga out into the middle of GA while she sings what she's singing.

That moment was spectacular and I can certainly imagine Gaga being quite into singing a ballad, or MTN/TEOG up there while the crowd reach like hell for her.

Yep. Imagine Gaga singing PI as fans claw their way onto the glass, hopelessly trying to reach her. P.S it won't break, let's not pretend.

The Illusions Stage:

This is a large round stage accessed by the tunnel created by the catwalk that has a bridge on it. The Illusions stage is named as such because that's where magic happens. It changes into a different stage for each part of the that takes place on it, and is empty when not used. For example: If Gaga is doing to perform a Jazz set, the stage will be adorned with roses, a Jazz band & an old-fashioned microphone. If Gaga performs a song like Paparazzi, the stage is filled with flashbulbs and a transparent screen for projections of colours and headlines to create the illusion of falling newspapers. You get the idea.

 

Set 1: Resurrection

A pyramid of screens hovers over the illusions stage.

A video plays. It's Lady Gaga in a meat dress in an open casket. The camera angle changes rapidly, like a Tim Burton or Jonas Akerlund video. A priest is reading out loud. "It is always a time of great sadness when a loved one passes. I hope you  will all join me in grieving the loss of our beloved..." Slow motion and zoomed in on his mouth "Stefani" Gaga's corpse twitches as mourners repeat "Goodbye Stefani" "We'll miss you Stefani" with the emphasis on them saying her name. The Priest continues "She was her mother's daughter, her Father's daughter, her sister's Sister but most of all, she was Stefani" *Bang* the Priest is shot in the head and falls off his feet to the ground. The camera pans around to see a 10-inch heel sticking out of the casket, smoking. The mourner's faces are all shocked and horrified as Gaga climbs out of the casket to the stand and speaks into the microphone "My....  Name.... is... LADY GAGA!"

The pyramid lifts and reveals Lady Gaga standing, silhouetted, surrounded by smoke and a strobe light behind her. 

1. Perfect Illusion (She walks through the glass tunnel between GA and the pit during this song)
2. Marry The Night (A Perfect Illusion remix, starting at the Bridge through to the end, merging with PI)

Gaga sinks into the ground and the pyramid descends for another interlude:
Clips of insults swirling around Gaga's head. The camera rotating around her. She lights up a cigarette and the image freezes as the camera whirls around like in the matrix, giving a full view of the smoke coming out of her mouth. "I'm gonna smoke all you bitches."

3. Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple instrumental cover - Gaga rises up out of the ground playing smoke on the water in full Joanne-mode. She stops before the vocal begins. "Heeeere we go!".
4. A-yo/MANiCURE/A-yo
Clapping mini-interlude: All dancers etc clap to a rhythm that adjusts itself to Telephone.
5. Telephone
6. Poker Face (Blackout at the end)

Angel Down Interlude: The instrumental for Angel Down plays over a video of various acts of war around the world. It ends with Gaga walking by a church and helping a young girl to her feet.

7. Joanne (Gaga sits on a stool on the moving part of the bridge and gradually she soars across GA for the song. The electronic wrist bands for the show light up in a soft yellow/orange like lighters.)
8. Angel Down (Gaga launches into one of her trademark speeches, speaking about downtrodden, disenfranchised people, Trayvon Martin etc.)
9. Come to Mama
10. Born This Way (Full routine)

Phoenix Interlude. 

11. Sinner's Prayer (Dive bar version, shortened)
12. John Wayne
13. Dance in the Dark/Dancing In Circles (The intro of DITD "ddd..dd" followed by a chorus, straight into DIC)
14. Do What u Want (Bridge and outro)
15. Million Reasons (on the moving platform)

Inspiration Interlude, Showing Gaga performing the songs of Queen, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, etc and speaking about wanting to be even half as good as them one day.

Nice! My plan was to actually not have any catwalks/runways except for a little bit protruding out of the main stage. However I did want there to be a secondary stage on the other side of the floor where she would somehow get to (sb teas) I also want there to be flames and lots of props. Im actually also working on a concept, so yeah

I'm not sure the Joanne World Tour will have a narrative or interludes as "out there" as this, but your production ideas are so cool. The glass-enclosed catwalk would be amazing (although she couldn't spend too much time in it because she would be invisible to the crowd)
