Some of my pretty simple analyses:

1) I personally feel that John Wayne is a sort of embodiment of the current state of the US in that we're heading downhill for a crash, and very quickly (notice the American flag on John Wayne's car).

2) When Gaga says she's strung out on John Wayne, I think she's saying she has a habit of falling for guys that are detrimental/bad for her. She fools around with a bad guy and pays the consequences in the end with her death. We see this exact scenario play out in Judas.

Yes with #1, the american flag is very symbolic. What do you think about Gaga shooting Gaga though?

I've been thinking a lot about that part in particular and I just can't come up with any sort of theory!!

Well, we know that Gaga has many personas. Perhaps her peak of recklessness and chaotic behavior brought out a bunch of Gaga personas at once, and one of the Gagas happened to kill the other. it may not have even been intentional; in the intensity of it all, BootGa aimed incorrectly and killed the other Gaga.  :gaycat: this could further be qualified by the "Oops!" that pops up after the Gaga persona collapses.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Ya'll better know I played JW every 45 minutes from one of those digital dollar jukeboxes at EACH packed bar me and my friends went to last night. People were boppin.

Hearing it played in that atmosphere highlighted how masculine the song actually is. She plays her cards right, EVERYONE will dig this song.

I do like it, BUT.. like I said with the Perfect Illusion it's just too fast I feel like I can't appreciate it, I understand her intention, she's erratic and crazy so it's obviously intentional. As for the song, I feel like it's the only one on the album that I cannot get into, I've tried loads, to me it just sounds like noise in a way, I'm not sure what it is but I just don't particularly like the song, I hope it does well with the GP. Just my opinion :) I hope Dancin' In Circles is next!!

Didn't get a chance to comment on the video earlier but damn i love it! I really really love it!

To me it feels like a continuation of Paparazzi and Telephone, with the obvious connection being the director of course.

In my mind Perfect Ilussion was 'Stephani', Million Reasons was 'Joanne' and John Wayne was 'Gaga'.

The visuals on this clip are amazing, loved the direction!

Not sure if people will agree but at some point, during the choreography, when Gaga and the dances are going in circles i felt it was hinting at Dancing in Circles.

Gaga's long blonde, puffy hair also made me think it was a Britney tribute.

Most likely an unpopular opinion but i am not a fan of the John Wayne mv BEING THE END PART of the Perfect illusion-Mllion Reasons storyline. Imo it shouldve been Sinner's Prayer or Diamond Heart... Stand alone is fine i understand she wants to please some of you guys with a classic GaGa music videi so i get it, but if we dont get to see atleast a visual for Diamond Heart or even Joanne (Which i believe shouldve been the end part to the storyline) but John Wayne has gotten one.. Ill be a bit disapointed but ill get over it. The music and this era has been so healing for me and couldnt be more greatful for it.

So you're not bothered by the video but rather by the song?

You little monstrosities better be watching the video whilst streaming Million Grammy's. It's fallen off the YouTube trending page

I am a fan of the video and song, but is it in my top 5 of the Joanne album? No

I just don't agree with the choice of John Wayne as the end of the Joanne Music Video Trilogy. I wouldve gone a different direction but as a fan i accept that its not my decision.

Totally agree! Love the video and really like the song, but like you said in another post, definitely not my Top 5 songs from the album and TOTALLY not how I would have continued from Million Reasons, but I respect her artistic decision and the video is REALLY great.

The order of the album itself kind of tells a story, so I would have continued with Sinner's Prayer, as it is kind of perfect after the message of MR. SP is top 5 on the album for me and I totally think she should one day send it to Adult Contemporary radio or maybe even country radio (kind of like how Beyoncé released Daddy Lessons as a buzz, country-tinged single).

All that said, unlike most fans, I don't think the continuous Joanne music videos are over. I don't take "The End" at the end of the video too seriously...it's kinda signature Ackerlund and the whole car driving and crash part of the video seems almost like an alternate reality, so I took it as the end of that alternate reality as she walks away on the road. Hope the next video starts with her walking down the road to a biker dive bar where she rocks out to A-YO with cameos from some familiar faces (like the HAIM sisters as one of them plays drums on the song).
