Gaga's SuperBowl performance had a political message

I was honestly shocked to hear people say "thank god she didn't go political with her performance" or "gaga puts on a great show without involving Trump"

which is literally what this review says:  http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/02/06/commentary-lady-gagas-epic-halftime-show-was-just-what-the-country-needed/ (it was posted already on this thread I'm sorry but I have to repost it)

this was my reaction/comment to that article (again I'm reposting it because I feel people need to read it/comment about it):

"Gaga has always represented minorities and she has been the symbol of togetherness, acceptance, uniqueness and bravery since day one. Gaga doesn't need to make a political statement, she herself IS the political statement and the fact that she didn't scream "**** TRUMP" doesn't mean that her performance didn't have a strong message (against him and what he stands for). The intro on the roof was a physical representation of her fights against people like Trump over the years, she is presenting herself as a symbol of hope and she's using the biggest stage in America to show people that no matter what he'll do "America will still be their land - liberty and justice for all". Her presence on America's biggest show  - during the first weeks of "Trump's America" - speaks by itself, she didn't make an actual statement because she didn't have to."

I just found this article on advocate.com and I completely agree with what is being said. This is just the summary but you should read the whole article HERE

6 Ways Lady Gaga's Super Bowl Show Was Deeply Subversive:

1. Her presence

2. Her segue from “God Bless America” to “This Land Is Your Land” as one big nuanced protest

3. "Poker Face" has a new meaning

4. The deep inclusivity of “Born This Way”

5. “Million Reasons” reimagined as a love song to America

6. Overall queer and camp sensibility

Do you agree with me and the article? I feel a lot of monsters didn't understand the real meaning of the performance

Yes. She made a statement about love, diversity and unity which is different and very subtle from going full blast off on Trump like some other artists have been doing. That's why everyone praised her for this.

Hmmmm some things on these articles are a bit of a reach tbh :emma: But I think her statements were quite obvious if you don't have the brain of an amoeba :madge:

Even the few bars of “Born This Way” she sang did not include the overtly pro-LGBT anthemic phrases.

And that perfect, fun, apolitical moment and celebration of America was exactly what this country needed as we begin the next four years.

I’m sure Lady Gaga is probably being ripped by social justice warriors in all the usual places today for failing to make the Super Bowl halftime show an uncomfortable experience for us all, I for one am thankful.

this article... i can't even. :smh:

To make a very broad generalization, what I've seen is:

1. Democrats got the message.

2. Republicans didn't.

Which is funny, and interesting. Also, it's kind of what I predicted:

I figured it would go over Trump's head, but I didn't realize the extent of it.

If a bisexual woman in a Bowie costume singing out the words to the letters of the “LGBT” alphabet while lavender-caped dancers twirl and grind behind and beside her, with rainbow lights illuminating the audience during the “Bad Romance” finale on the world's largest stage, doesn’t sound subversive to you, then we want to live in your world.

i loved reading this article. :firega:

I was kinda hoping for gaga to change BTW lyrics to include something about Islam, but I'm happy the way things are.

The only thing Republicans didn't want was that Gaga directly mention Trump, they give no damn if she sang about acceptance of sexuality, ethnicity etc...
