While for an oil Reserve to be officially counted it must be proven to be extractible technologically and exonomically, new estimates of how much oil exists and may soon become extractible in North America put the Middle East to shame!!!

CANADA: Has 175 Billion barrels of proven extractable Oil reserves in Oil Sands. The total amount in place is 2 TRILLION BARRELS! New technologies almost completed will double extratable reserves to 315 Billion Barrels making Canada the Country in the world with most oil!

In Addition 500 Billion barrels are estimated to exist in the oil carbomates under oil sands found 2 years ago. Also Massive Shale reserves in the North may hold over 300 Billion Barrels tho surveys are in Early stages. More shale was also found in BC

Canada in total has at least 3 Trillion Barrels of oil, yet surveys in the vast emptiness of Canada has barely began. Some estimate the true total as high as 6 Trillion Barrels!

USA: Already 70 Billion barrels are extractible from US Shale yet the total in place is at least 1.5 Trillion Barrels! The ever improving technology for shale will ensure more and more of this will be extractible

In addion there is a formation called the "Green River Formation" which holds 3 Trillion barrels of oil. None is extactible at this time because the oil composition is a bit different than normal Shale Oil but should it ever be accessable, lots of oil will be unlocked

4.5 Trillion barrels of oil exist in place in US. While the USA has been more heavily explored than Canada already and therefore may have fewer discoveries left, there may still be Trillions more to find

I wonder what @Luc and @Woolfsmck think of this!

Conventional oil reserves exist in much smaller amounts and recovery rates are already high so dont expect reserves to go up much at all else where

Oil Sands and Shale just keep getting easier and easier to extract

Oil Sands recovery rates is about to double to 18% thanks to improved in-situ (hence the expected doubling in Oil Sands reserves within a few years)

And shale recovery just seems to rise year after year

Were never gonna use all this oil and we need a greener future.

But even if recovery rates in US and Canada rise to only 20%, We have the potential to make middle east irrelevant long term :firega:

Yasssss!!!!!!!! USA! USA!

Time to conquer those ice dwellers and free loaders and show them the American way!  We gotta take the oil! Just take it, don't even wait! Since we're America, they'll let us do it! Grab it by the oil!

Dont take nukes off the table either, we will have the strongest nukes and we can't take them off the table! #NukeCanadaForOil2017

Inb4 Canada becomes the new Middle East and there's ****ing oil wars in Canada.

Well, the US as well

ur recoverable reserves arent as high as ours yet but they probably will be soon

The majority of our oil is still oil sands but shale recovery is rising more quickly than oil sands

although oil sands is about to go thru a major breakthru to double reserves but it had stalled the last 10-15 years

Speaking of free-loaders, ur nuke disabling system covers a circle that covers most of southern Canada (where most residents live)

That means even if the US wanted to nuke us u couldnt, ur own protective system which leaks hundreds of miles into our borders wouldnt let u :poot:

i know ur kidding tho.

and as i said, u guys arent gonna need our oil long term anyway

Canada is trying to set up an export market to Asia for a reason :awkney:

Yeah, the nuke thing was just a reference to when a Trump refused to take nukes off the table, even when Europe entered the question.

The current goal is to keep the oil prices stable regardless of what the OPEC countries try to do.  They use it for political pressure on the western economies.   Long term transportation and energy needs to go Green for obvious environmental reasons.
