Hasn't she been like that for every project post-The Fame? The Fame was promoted with ironic vapidness and a sense of humor, but every album after The Fame has been promoted with a sad revelation in order to lend validity to the project. The Fame Monster she talked about her issues with depression, mental health, eating disorders, and Lupus. To promote Born This Way she spoke about being bullied and her chronic drug abuse. During ARTPOP she talked about being in an inappropriate relationship with an older producer, later clarifying it was rape. While promoting Cheek To Cheek she said Tony saved her life, that before working with him she couldn't sleep and that she was going to quit music. Now for Joanne she is talking about PTSD. I think she lost her sense of humor a while ago.
memomemome 1,478
Right after Mr video actually I feel a little bit underwhelmed. But I feel worried about her state. Is she OK? If Joanne is a healing album, Hope she heal back fast and comeback strong as ever.

chrismugler 944
I don't know tbh. I still listen to some songs on Joanne but I don't feel as excited as her last albums. I'm excited for the SuperBowl gig and I HOPE SHE DELIVERS. B.B.A. / Music Lover / Human.
8Bit Heart 66
She seems to be very very laidback this era... Which is cool with me. We just can't expect round-the-clock promo anymore, it tires her, and I'm just going to shut an eye towards the lackluster music videos this era. After all, an era constitutes so much more than music videos. I think at this point Gaga's trying to stabilize and find her footing - breaking out of her "visual" box. Admittedly, in 2009-11 she was a very visual artist but she may be trying to break away from that.
DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Yes. And for half the people that voted no, more Gaga for me.
Pop Art 1,773
Other than the Super Bowl and tour, no honestly. From the moment I heard Perfect Illusion, I had a weird feeling this era just wouldn't quite do it for me, and I was right - the fairly lowkey looks, more toned down attitude, and unrecognizably minimalistic and economical visuals just aren't my cup of tea. If I'm being completely honest, I was genuinely relieved when I heard the album and found that I loved it. (I do like Perfect Illusion as well FYI, it just left a weird taste in my mouth, so to speak, originally.) I think the most excited I've been this whole era (other than the pre-Perfect Illusion hype of course) was the VSFS because she finally served some looks there. This sounds so overdone at this point, but the Lady Gaga that I started stanning for in 2008 is absolutely not the same Lady Gaga I'm stanning for in 2016, at least in terms of the art she's creating. While this is natural, what with maturation and the progression one goes through with the passage of time, the stark divide between the art of 2008-2014 Gaga and that of 2015-2016 Gaga is so divisive that they might as well be two different artists. This isn't inherently a bad thing - after all, artistic growth is a wonderful thing - but it's obvious why many wouldn't like such drastic changes. To put it bluntly, it's basically not what they signed up for. All this being said, I acknowledge that she's human and has the right to do whatever the **** she wants, even if her own fans may not love it as much as previous endeavors. By the same token though, I have the right to not be as into the art she's releasing this era as I normally would be. At the very least, I have intense respect for her for doing exactly as she wants. Does this make me less of a stan? I don't think so personally, but I guess that's up to individual interpretation. She's still my #1 fave, and Joanne is ultimately my favorite album released in 2016. If I'm being 100% honest though, I do personally hope that she goes back to being Lady Gaga the pop artist next era. But, again if I'm being honest, I'll continue to be here either way. I think its the new management telling her to not be so exposed so her appearances gain more value. they're stifling her creativity!

Quote-on-quote from GAGA HERSELF: "I feel sad when I’m overworked, and that I just become a money making machine, and that my passion and my creativity take a back seat; that makes me unhappy." - http://www.etonline.com/news/174984_lady_gaga_explains_why_she_almost_quit_music/ CLEARLY she gets tired from overpromoting. No one really promotes excessively these days a la the Born This Way era anymore, anyway.
GagzDonkeyD 1,293
She needs to stop being the mother of kindness and start to not give a sh*t All those kindness healing tweets seemed so robotic and fake she needs to have her own fun like she used to Also there are a lot of sadness this era idk why it just felt kinda depressing
