The behaviour on this forum is really unforgivable and you hit the nail right on the head there, saying how "lazy" is probably the worst thing to tell someone who just poured their heart into something that means a lot to her. "fans" You know I've always suspected that perfect illusion was a jab at the "monsters" who love to drag and criticize her. It must have been a devestating blow to realize that some of the "monsters" you so lovingly "raised" in a way could turn and abandon you like that. She's been nothing but good to us. She's always been there for her monsters whenever we needed her no questions asked and yet when she needs us the most, some of you just turned it into an opportunity to kick her while she's down. But it's ok. Let them go. She still has monsters who proudly display their monster/gaga tattoos and who will be there to catch her when she falls because she was always there to catch us when we fell. She still has monsters who love her for who she is just as she loves us for who we are. She's still the woman who said "What you and I have little monsters has no end. It's eternal. No matter what I'll always be there to catch you when you fall". I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
Nicole 1,809
Not liking the video is fine. We all have opinions. Relentlessly trashing the video and criticising its very existence is another. Gaga said herself this video isn't meant to be about the visuals, but rather the meaning - the personal side of her that everyone was begging to see but now apparently don't want a bar of it. You can not like the video as a product and still acknowledge the beautiful and intimate themes within it. You can not like the video but still find it somewhere in your mind that maybe Gaga needed to do this for herself, not a bunch of fans that would find something to complain about even if it was more visually groundbreaking. You can not like the video and simultaneously realise that not everything is about you. Not everything necessarily for you.
Cerny 4,270
Why should we watch the video as she intended? why should the expectator put themselves into the role of the creator to understand their art? The way I figure, It shouldn't be explained. The artist's intent should only be a visual guide, or point you in a direction. Or slimply avoid any kind of hint, It should be what the viewer thinks is the meaning, which, overall, gives the peice of art more meaning. For me, art is hidden behind a vague and mysterious aura. So you can analyze it. That how I see it. If people think the video is uninspired or lazy so be it, that's what they think, it's their interpretation, and it's valid. Besides, most people is complaining about the execution and the recycled material, which is indeed kinda lazy. What I didn't like though is the acting which is "cringy" for my taste. Swando 300
Well i get what you mean. But by the end of it, we're bashing the video. NOT the song. The video is no more personal than her privious work. Yes, her other videos weren't as direct with their message. But they all had them. People call it lazy because it's clear that the scenes are trying to re-enact stuff. Not create stuff. She's not being an artist with this video, She's being an actor. The plot so far is basically: Her career charges through the desert. People are with her. It feels like she has everything, being high probably helps. As she then finally wakes from this "illusion". She sees that she's all alone. They were only there for the party, not her. (You could argue that it's a reference to maybe a psychotic episode, but this is still the Perfect Illusion video, which i actually enjoyed). Broken down after realizing she's been living a lie. Her team returns to/find her (only in black vans, symbolising they're probably more her professional team) They help her get back up. But since i assume it's her professional team, they're not helping her permanently/properly. She then goes to the room, where she now begins to understand that she has to heal herself, through her roots (family). Meanwhile "the show must go on", which is what the Joanne outfit scenes are all about. Now this sounds awesome dosen't it? Well it's basically just a slightly different version of G.U.Y. It's done more linear and hollywood inspired though. I'll give it that.
synched 734
I can't believe that people can still find a way to defend this video. It's honestly bad and not just for her standards. When she does a crappy job, you can come out and say it guys. When i do a bad job people tell me and i work harder to make it better. That's called "feedback". It doesn't have to be hurtful or traumatic to the person lol
bliaz 897
Ok, we have to like It and if we don't we are bad fans? We are being HONEST! Why you pretend everything Gaga does is perfect? STOP calling us betrayers, fake Monsters, or whatever just because we don f*** liked MR video, PI, etc. If Gaga give us a piece of shi** and we don't like it, we are bad fans instantly? You all are so wrong. Respect our opinion. English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes
baptism 2,670
Well. We've had the Marry The Night video which was about her rape. We've had the GUY video which is about the men taking advantage of her in the music industry. We've had Til It Happens To You which was about rape. We have the PI video which was, as it turns out, a video about how she was destructive after a breakup. We have the MR video which is about her being down and out and sad and all that. I think it's time we get a care free video. At least something interesting to watch. She seems to really want people to know that she is deeply affected by things that have happened to her and I get that, but honestly.... we know. And we care, a lot. But her fans are not her therapists. I'm sure if she needed to talk any one of us would be happy to listen and offer advice and a great big hug, but this is spiraling out of control. It's like the budget for MR was like fifteen bucks CANADIAN and she spent it on a pack of smokes. Gaga's entire life and career is the human embodiment of the song Lucky by Britney Spears and Lucky's an okay song but like. We grow weary.
hELXIG 42,968
Something I've learned is that a lot of these 'fans' don't actually care about her. They have no empathy. They don't care one bit about the person behind the art. It's just the way it is. The really annoying ones you can just block on websites and never see their comments. I've blocked like 13 people here on GGD. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

This whole 'we care about her so we're real fans' is so self-righteous considering we don't even know her. She puts out a product, it is going to get evaluated and discussed. It's apart of the industry. You can't censor every negative critic of Gaga. Better make that 14. The Fame Joanne 5,985
I'm done with all those people who act like you have to like everything to be a real fan. Or that those who don't like it "don't get it". B*tch I get the message of it. But it's just executed abysmal And don't say I don't care for her and that she poured her heart out in the video. She could have done that either in a more stunning way, she had enough time. Or have it this way but with a sooner release
