Elvis.  Right place at the right time.  I don't think his singing was that good.  I heard he didn't even write his music.

Mariah Carey: Good voice but I think her music is boring.

Beyonce: Great voice but the majority of her music is pretty bland.  I love her self titled album though.  It annoys me that she won't live at times even though her dancing isn't that complicated.

Justin Timberlake: Boring music.  I don't like the sound of his voice either.

Britney Spears: Her first album is good but I never saw the big deal about her.  Great dancer and looks great but hardly ever sings live.  Doesn't produce and hardly writes her music.  Her voice on the albums isn't that good.

Not sure if all on my list are classified 'Legends' but heeeere we go1

Coldplay - Just never got into their music, and as much as a friend of mine tells me the opposite, i find all their albums too similar sounding.

Katy Perry - While i have only known young teenage girls and some queens being fans, she is huge and everywhere. Why? Never cared that much for her music, i find it many many levels below Gaga's. She can't sing live at all, she barely does any proper dancing and she is always copying trends set by others right before her.

Drake - Again, while i do enjoy Drake's sound i don't see what's so special about his music in general. Yet he sells in huge numbers, gets great reviews and makes it #1.

Legends are legends for a reason, maybe you say they can't sing or some dumb excuse, but they excelled at one or many things : lyrics, style, appearance, personality, talent, you name it, legends are influential, skillful persons who changed the game, brought something new to the table, legends have to be people who have changed a genre forever, who transformed the shape of music and created a new outlet for expression, legends have to have the power to influence.

Whether you like it or not (:reductive:), Madonna, David Bowie, Prince, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson are legends and that's a fact.

And a Teenager who can only list Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Marina and the Diamonds, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj when there's a thread about naming your favourite artist on here, can't change that.

Definitely Elvis

He had charisma but he was basically the culture vulture Iggy Azalea of his day :ladyhaha:

I'd have to agree with The Beatles too, they made some timeless pop songs but they stole alot of **** from other cultures and were not as ground breaking as everyone makes them out to be. Honestly, white people in general get put up on a pedestal so much when it comes to music :reductive:

In terms of underrated though: Freddy Mercury. I feel like he isn't given props nearly enough (probably cos he dosen't fit that typical white straight male mould that music critics like to jerk off too)

To all the putas even trying it with MJ

giphy.gif

He was literally Jesus in music form and the only one these "legends" that will actually be relevant 100 years from now. Thriller is already like the goddamn bible of pop music and no one will ever come close.

Yoncé :giggle: I love her, but she's overrated. If you're a musician and someone makes a religion dedicated to you, you are overrated.

I'd also like to say that Cher is underrated, because I know of two of her songs, Believe and Bang Bang

No, they're not classified legends yet.

David Bowie.... :toofunny: may he rest in peace, but honestly, his music is terrible in my oppinion, his voice even worse, and he was far from handsome... what did people see in him??? :emma:

Everything.

But you either love him, or not.  But this is who Bowie was and what he meant to millions.

i have nothing against you or your point of view. all i wanted was an intelligent interaction and i thank you for it. nothing was taken personal trust me.

It's just you seemed very annoyed by my opinion, so I took it to be that you were defending Madonna from anyone who didn't think she was the best. If you had nothing against my point of view, why did you quote me acting like my way of deciding if someone deserved their legend status or not was wrong? If all you want is intelligent reasoning behind my choices, just politely ask for it without being confrontational and accusatory.
