I just chose it because I thought the near-anagram with lady gaga was clever (it's probably not ). Difficult to tell. Madonna has influenced Gaga simply for the fact Madonna happened first. That doesn't necessarily mean she's a bigger inspiration nor that Gaga has no influence on her contemporaries and the following generation, especially when Miley Cyrus, Nick Jonas, Sam Smith, Mgmt, etc have all cited her as an inspiration one way or another. I mean, Lady Gaga is a household name. Even if they don't know she has new songs out, they will always remember 2008-2010 Gaga. that's how meteoric she was. Anything weird in a field, department, state, group, etc will be called "the Lady Gaga of x", like how Nicki was once dubbed "the Lady Gaga of rap". Madonna has name-dropped Gaga in the song Iconic. Pop culture has been influenced hard by Gaga, her legend will continue even if the lady has diminished. Shows have mentioned her, movies have used her songs (and soon she will be in a movie again!), games have referenced her, and red carpet events continue to invite her just for the ratings.
