They all are co-produced by Bloodpop after all, an edm producer. At any rate, Gaga isn't required to do the exact same genre for every song on every album. Her first 4: The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP they are all electronic pop and EDM but Gaga always found a way to reinvent and make them a real masterpiece. What she is doing on 'Joanne' is not breaking ANY new ground, artistically. It's all been done a zillion times before. And done better. Tbh This is what bothers me the most about the era. I LOVE folk/indie/alt-rock/country. If Gaga had become Amish and gone full country and executed it well God knows I would've been all over it. But this album is just very...middle of the road to me. Idk. It's good, but it's nothing special And if this is the music Gaga wanted to put out, then fine. But it frustrates me because I know Gaga is capable of greatness

That totally makes sense. I mean, opinions will be opinions, and I can't, nor can anyone, really change them. I just, and I know 100% that you weren't meaning for this to be "anti-Joanne" or anything like that, but when someone speaks about the album as if it doesn't seem to fit who Gaga is, I just don't understand that myself. But, yeah, you're welcome?? I suppose. I didn't really see my response as an "intelligent one" as just one that expresses what I'm thinking and what I believe about the album. simpleworldme 87
Luckily, it's Gaga's career and life, so I'm happy that she gets to make these choices herself. I'm so here for this artistic journey. If you haven't heard of Goldfrapp, I would highly recommend them if you miss old Gagz, especially Supernature and Black Cherry. Dilated, falling free. Thank you for the recommendation. I was on the Goldfrapp train back in the early/mid 2000's and loved their singles obsessively, but their music overall could never touch the brilliance of Gaga. It's not just the sonic style I miss, it's the whole package.

I understand where you are going but we cant survive on 5-6 dance-ible tracks for another 2-3 years. I love Joanne and I will never stop stanning Gaga. She hardly has GP support and I'm fearful that many of her fans are going to leave her.

Brb, getting this tattooed @ReidOne I feel like you need some serious props for presenting this in such a respectful and well thought out manner Spoiler We've gotten so used to "lel joanne sux. fite me lil delulus" I definitely see where you're coming from. What's always been my favorite part of Gaga's music is taking it apart and over analyzing everything. Finding allusions and metaphors in every lyric, in every sound. ARTPOP was such a feast for that. Born This Way was too Joanne though...not so much. It's plainly stated and not really open to interpretation at all. While that has its own benefits (it feels more honest and authentic...maybe less pretentious than her previous efforts ) it still leaves something to be desired by little cryptics like me. Though I have managed to find enjoyment in it. There's some great dance songs (John Wayne, DIC, and PI say hello ), some tear jerkers (Joanne, Million Reasons, Angel Down), and some songs that are just plain fun to sing to (Diamond Heart, Come to Mama, Hey Girl). Speaking to the era itself, while I'm a little miffed about it being light on performances (comparatively speaking) I personally love the political activism and how outspoken she's been/being about certain things. Though Hillary losing did kind of ruin Come to Mama for me All in all, I'm casually enjoying Joanne but not obsessing like I did with ARTPOP. Which is fine and as always, I'm looking forward to the future Billionaires are a cancer. Even the ones you like.
Yo GagaGaga 6,541
Well first off I really doubt this album was to promote Hillary, but she just used some of the songs to support something she thought was important and believed in And she was the biggest celebrity in the world for almost four years, and she decided to make songs that she loved and was proud of instead of trying to appeal to pop fans unattainable expectations of her. She's been saying this her whole career, except this time she decided to fully show she wasn't a slave to pop music, but this time she said it without a pop bow on top The song the fame was a whole satire about how fame obsessed people are, and how she doesn't care about it. In LoveGame she says "Do you want love, or do you want fame" She knew that fame wasn't important before she had it Do What U Want says how much she doesn't like the media, and values her beliefs instead of her body (Her Fame). Mary Jane Holland "Lady of dam, won't be a slave to the blonde or the culture of the popular" I'm sure you know what all the songs I mentioned were about, but I wanted to point out that her whole career she's been saying how little she values fame and money using pop music, and the Joanne era she is putting her money where her mouth is. I'm glad she made Joanne because Diamond Heart, Angel Down, and Come to Mama are really important songs for me and I'm much more inspired by this album than any of the ones before it. I respect your opinion, and I get how you feel since Lady Gaga seemed infinite when she was on top, but what makes her so iconic is how she does what she wants creatively, and doesn't give a koonz what people want from her "When people think that they know what Lady Gaga is, I want to remind them that they don't"

If Gaga does come back fully formed as her "old self" that we loved and enjoyed so much... will it ever be the same? She's seemingly "spit in the face" of that old identity so many times during the 'Joanne' era that I feel it will be tougher to obsess on it if it ever comes around again. Because now it will feel inauthentic. As if she's doing it just to please us (and to make some $), but she's really not into it. Same. I enjoy Joanne, but she's really slipping away. She claims to be putting in 110%, but I'm not seeing anything like her past eras. She's gotten too comfortable doing nothing, and it's showing. Yeah, her promo this era, compared to other's, is lack-luster, but I wouldn't say that she's just doing nothing. Much of why she's halted promo was because of the election, and I think rightfully so. It was one of the most important elections in modern history, she has every right to be apart of that if she so desires. You voluntarily buy her music, you voluntarily stream her songs, you voluntarily get on a site dedicated to her. She could have stopped being in this business after ARTPOP, we all know how hard that time was on her. Don't act like she's just sitting around doing nothing.
