I'm not so sure about that.  It is only in recent history that people even had a vote in the primaries.  Before that, the candidates were chosen at party conventions.

The reason the parties wanted control over the selection was to keep demagogues and other reckless candidates (like Trump) from making a populist run and taking over their party (like Trump).  

To this day, the parties will try to do what is best for the party, and they may not be 100% neutral.  The RNC didn't do as much for Trump as they should have done in the early days if they were neutral.  And I can tell you there was genuine panic in the democratic party that Bernie would get painted as a socialist atheist in the general election and lose in a landslide to the Republican candidate (they didn't know it would be Trump at the time).  

In the past several decades, EVERY time that Democrats got labeled "socialist", they lost, and Bernie is a socialist democrat, which sounds too much like "socialist" for many people.  I'm still not convinced Bernie would have beaten Trump, because Trump would have drummed up fears of godless socialists.

So yes, the party probably did help Hilary a little.  That's not Hilary's fault, and it doesn't make her a criminal.  In fact, nothing makes her a criminal.   She hasn't been indicted, much less convicted, of anything, despite decades of partisan investigations.  She might be a pay-for-play politician who will say whatever to get donations, and that's bad, but it's not criminal.

But yes, if you want to blame Hilary for being uncharismatic and cagey and not conveying something new and positive, then yes, she is somewhat to blame for losing the election.

All y'all Hillary supporters, her popular vote this year means nothing cos she only won by 1%, more over, take a look deeper at how many people have abstained this year, look at the statistic!

There are 231,556,622 eligible American voters, and 46.% of those have chose to abstain! 46.9%!

Meanwhile Trump turned out fewer voters than Romney or McCain, but Clinton turned out FAR FEWER than Obama.

 

And majority of non voters are clearly both, some Republicans who didn't like Trump (George Walker Bush included, he was abstained), and Bernie fans, because they have problems with what Trump promises he would do and what Hillary have done. While some other of Bernie supporters voted for Trump for Business related decisions. (Dow Jones hits all time high today)

It's not that Democrats have losing supporters or that America show their true color, it just that many Dems just DO NOT WANT Hillary, because 1.) She is unfavorable and unreliable to some people, and 2.) Some other just mad at big government, which she had lots of experience in. 

If you want to blame, then blame her really, she have huge ego and fxck Bernie over, who clearly was favored by these group of people, cos he was fresh and his ideas are pretty much progressive.

While I heavily supported her in this election after she got the official nomination (I was a Bernie supporter prior), I don't think she should run again. I think this was the highest level she'll ever get to, which is nothing to scoff at by any means. She made history as the first female nominee of a major political party. That's a huge step in the right direction for women in politics and across the country.

However, this election did too much damage to her reputation for a large amount of people. While some people disliked her prior to the election period, all of her "scandals" were brought directly into the spotlight and amplified tenfold. Many people just did not trust her or want her as the leader of the country, even in the democratic party. Not defending Trump whatsoever, but that's just how a lot of the country felt. People who hated Trump voted for him just to keep her out of office in the same way many voted for her just to try to keep him out of office. The majority of people in the country truly considered this a "lesser of two evils" election.

Did America make the right choice? No. But we did make a choice.

While I think we're more than ready and long overdue for a female president, she just wasn't the right one, even if she was the one that everyone thought would achieve it first. I will always stand by my vote for her in this election, but I have to be able to look outside of myself to process how a large population of Americans see her.

No. I think that she realizes this was a campaign she cannot come back from. Her image is too tarnished and too polarizing to warrant a 2020 run. I pray Bernie (or a Berniecrat) runs instead.

No way. She will quietly enjoy her life with her family and continue to do work with women and children. She is retired, but will continue to lend her support to worthy causes around the world.

 

2020 will bring a nominee that is more moderate, a white male Joe Biden type. The progressives have failed the Democratic Party, so they will go back to placing emphasis on the working class and not so much on social issues.

Why would she do that? Many respected people have lost the presidency. They go on to have complete lives and many go on to serve in office in another capacity. However, Hillary is retired. She will enjoy her life with her family and friends and probably do some activism work for world causes that she cares about. 

Most people don't resort to suicide because of a big disappointment. Hillary is a resilient person and has much to live for.

And she wants nothing to do with running for the office. She saw first hand his her husband was treated with disrespect for the color of his skin for years. She might run for some kind of local level office eventually, since more can get done at that level, but she doesn't want to be a politician.
